English Professor Michelle Gil-Montero Releases Three Books

Michelle Gil-Montero, assistant professor of English in the School of Humanities and Fine Arts at Saint Vincent College, has published a book of poetry (Attached Houses, Brooklyn Arts Press, 2013) and two book translations of poetry (Mouth of Hell, by Maria Negroni, Action Books, 2013; The Tango Lyrics, by Maria Negroni, Quattro Books, 2013), which were released over the summer.

Gil-Montero earned her master of fine arts degree in poetry at the Iowa Writers' Workshop on a dean's merit fellowship. There, she won the Academy of American Poets University Prize in 2007. Her other publications include the translations Poetry After the Invention of América: Don't Light the Flower by Andrés Ajens (Palgrave MacMillan, 2011) and This Blue Novel by Valerie Mejer (Action Books, coming 2013). She is a 2012 recipient of a literary translation fellowship from the National Endowment for the Arts.
