Dave Romano, a motivational speaker with Active Minds, will be the first presentation in the Saint Vincent College Office of Student Affairs LEARN Speakers Series at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30 in the Fred M. Rogers Center on the campus of Saint Vincent. Admission is free and open to the public.
Active Minds is a national non-profit organization that provides speakers who talk openly about mental health in order to educate others and encourage help-seeking by providing information, leadership opportunities and advocacy training to the next generation. Romano’s topics will include depression, suicide, self-injury, athletics and mental health.
A native of Minnesota, Romano is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in social work at the College of St. Scholastica. He also works at a facility for youth and families struggling with mental health issues.
Upcoming presentations in the series include Jim Keady, Educating for Justice, Inc., 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 6, and Kerry Cronin, director of the Lonergan Institute, 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 13.
