McKenna School Students Visit New York City Stock Exchange

Five Saint Vincent College students enrolled in the Alex G. McKenna School of Business, Economics and Government visited the NASDAQ (National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations) Stock Market in New York City on Feb. 21 as guests of Brian O’Malley, a Saint Vincent College graduate of the class of 1978 who is senior vice president and general auditor for NASDAQ OMX Group, Inc. The students were part of a larger group of SVC students who attended the Women in Business 2014 National Conference at Columbia University. Pictured in front of the headquarters where a digital billboard welcomed the Saint Vincent group, are James Kunkel, executive director of the Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center; Eva Kunkel, executive assistant to the dean of the McKenna School; Dr. Dawn Edmiston, associate professor of management and marketing and faculty advisor of Women in Business; David Emmanuel, a junior management major from Dumfries, Va.; Dante Gentile, a junior marketing major from Pittsburgh (15217); Anthony Jackel, a senior marketing major from Harrison City; Jose Estevez, a seniorcriminology, law and society major from Miami, Fla.; and Lazaro Garcia, a junior management major from Miami, Fla. Jeffrey LaRocque gave the students a tour, explained the work and history of the market and an opportunity to experience the frenzy of activity surrounding the market’s closing bell.
