The 13th annual Westmoreland Earth Day and Community Energy Expo featuring more than 35 regional environmental organizations and energy companies, will be held on Sunday, April 27 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Robert S. Carey Student Center on the campus of Saint Vincent College.
This year’s theme is “Color Your World Green!” and is designed to encourage the use of green materials, energy and learning new ways to be green.
The schedule includes educational activities, live animal shows, displays and booths for all ages and interests.
Scheduled activities include a nature walk at 11 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., My Unbelievable Aquatic Adventure Puppet Show with Adam Swartz at 11:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m., Pennsylvania reptile and amphibian show with April Claus at 1 p.m., planetarium show, Dynamic Earth, at 2:30 p.m., and Green Fire (Aldo Leopold Documentary) at 4 p.m.
Zero fossil dueling bikes, kids green scene, face painting, kids’ energy activities, petting zoo, environmental non-profit groups and energy companies and contractors will be available throughout the event.
Sponsored by Westinghouse, West Penn Power Sustainable Energy Fund, Commercial Bank, Walmart and Saint Vincent College, admission is free and open to the public.
Event committee includes DCNR-Keystone State Park, Penn State Cooperative Extension, Westmoreland Cleanways, Winnie Palmer Nature Reserve, Saint Vincent College and Penn State Master Gardeners.
