Dr. Alison Gopnik, center, an internationally recognized leader in the study of children’s learning, was the featured speaker in the Saint Vincent College Threshold Series on June 2 at the New Hazlett Theater Center for Performing Arts, Pittsburgh. Her remarks were entitled, “The Philosophical Baby: What children’s minds tell us about love, truth and the meaning of life.” She was introduced by Michelle Figlar, left, executive director of the Pittsburgh Association for the Education of Young Children, and welcomed by Richard Fernandes, right, executive director of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media. The lecture was presented in celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Fred Rogers Center for Early Learning and Children’s Media and in conjunction with the third biennial Fred Forward Conference.
