SVC Wins Three Awards for Social Media Achievement

Simon Stuchlik, left, digital marketing specialist, and David Safin, director of multimedia services, earned three joint awards for their achievements in utilizing social media for Saint Vincent College.

Saint Vincent College’s Facebook page (http://www.facebook.com/saintvincentcollege) was the winner of an Award of Distinction in the online advertising and marketing category of the 20th annual Communicator Awards competition which honors excellence in marketing and communications. The Award of Distinction is presented for projects that exceed industry standards in quality and achievement. Stuchlik and Safin are the page administrators.

Their work was selected by The Academy of Interactive and Visual Arts (AIVA), an invitation-only group consisting of top-tier professionals from acclaimed media, communications, advertising, creative and marketing firms. With more than 6,000 entries submitted from across the United States and around the world, the Communicator Awards is the largest and most competitive awards program honoring the creative excellence of communications professionals. The awards are judged by leading professionals from various disciplines of the visual arts dedicated to embracing progress and the evolving nature of traditional and interactive media. Awards honor work that transcends innovation and craft – work that has made a lasting impact. AIVA members include executives from organizations such as Conde Nast, Coach, Disney, Estee Lauder, Lockheed Martin, MTV Networks, Southeby’s Institute of Art, Time, Inc., Victoria’s Secret, Wired and Yahoo!

Saint Vincent was also a Gold Award winner in the annual Marcom awards competition for its Facebook site in the mobile and web-based technology category. Marcom is an international competition for marketing and communication professionals. Entries come from corporate marketing and communication departments, advertising agencies, public relations firms, design shops, production companies and freelancers.

In addition, Saint Vincent was a Gold Award winner in the social media content category of the Education Digital Marketing Awards competition, conducted in cooperation with Higher Education Marketing Report, the most widely-read publication for educational marketers. Awards recognize the best educational websites, digital content, electronic communications, mobile media and social media. A national panel of industry specialists reviews each entry, judging creativity, marketing execution, message impact, technology application and innovation content.

“These three awards are shared with those who work in the Saint Vincent College office of marketing and communications as well as with those in our Facebook community who make the page interactive and fun,” Stuchlik and Safin commented. “Social media is not social without a vibrant, participative audience.”

Stuchlik, of Unity Twp., earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Saint Vincent College in 2012.

Safin, of Manor, earned a bachelor of arts degree in communication from Saint Vincent College, a master of science degree in multimedia technology from California University of Pennsylvania and a master of fine arts in film and digital technology from Chatham University. He is also an instructor in communication at Saint Vincent.
