The Saint Vincent College Chemistry Club celebrated Halloween and National Chemistry Week on Friday afternoon October 30 with a pumpkin sale on the front patio of the Robert S. Carey Student Center on campus in Latrobe. They sold pumpkins for $1 each and buyers were given markers and paint and asked to pick a chemical element to draw onto the pumpkin. The pumpkins were assembled into a rather untraditional Periodic Table of Elements (at least the first five rows of the table). According to Club President John Patrick, the project is designed to supply students with pumpkins while they are away from home and get them in the Halloween spirit and have some fun while brushing up on their knowledge of chemical elements. Posing with the completed display are Mike Novak (lying in front) and Anthony Marquis (sitting on right). In back, left to right, are James Burns, John Patrick, Gabe DiCostanzo, Theresa Downey and Erin Wachter.
