Awards Presented at Spring Honors Convocation
 

Saint Vincent College presented awards to faculty and students at the annual Spring Honors Convocation held on April 23 in the Saint Vincent Basilica. Shawn Beaman M.D., a 1998 graduate of Saint Vincent College who is an anesthesiologist at UPMC, gave the convocation address.

President Jim Towey presented senior Steven Leuschel of Saint Marys with the President’s Award. Honored faculty included: Rev. Myron Kirsch, O.S.B., assistant professor of business administration, who was presented the Boniface Wimmer Award; and Dr. Michael E. Rhodes, assistant professor of biology, who was presented the Quentin Schaut Award.

Jenna R. Hogan of North Merrittstown, was the recipient of the 1968 Fr. Ronald Gorka Scholarship Award, presented by Dr. William Snyder, professor of English. Britton K. Batschke of Geneva, Illinois, was presented with the Ragan Poetry Award, presented by Dr. Dennis D. McDaniel, associate professor of English.

Student Government Association Senior Awards were presented to Stephen P. Dragan of Washington, Matthew J. Feigel of Pittsburgh (15223), Laura L. Gerhart of Latrobe, Steven R. Leuschel of Saint Marys, and Michael R. Palcsey of Dravosburg. Student Government Association Awards were presented to Dr. Michael Botsko, professor of mathematics, Mr. Jason Winters, director of campus life, and Mrs. Veronica Isaacs, Parkhurst Dining Service.

Graduate Awards for Academic Excellence in the Major Field of Study were presented to the following students: Jeffrey P. Anzovino of Greensburg, Accountancy; Eric J. Guldin of North Huntingdon, School Administration and Supervision; Megan A. Kelly of Kittanning, Library Media Management; Lisa M. Orr of Latrobe, Curriculum and Instruction; Natalie M. Reese of Greensburg, Environmental Education; and Emily P. Tuk of Scottdale, Special Education.

Undergraduate Awards for Excellence in the Major Field of Study were presented to the following students: Elizabeth A. Boggs of Apollo, Catholic Theology; Paul X. Glassbrenner of Pittsburgh (15212), Student Educator Award-Elementary; Tara J. Kauffelt of Pittsburgh (15241), Student Educator Award-Secondary and Rev. Fintan R. Shoniker, O.S.B. Memorial Award; Megan A McCullough of Hershey, Student Educator Award-Early Childhood; and Victor J. Pocius of York, Pennsylvania Institute of Certified Public Accountants Award.
