Campus Ministry Sends Supplies to Troops in Iraq

Saint Vincent College sophomore Benjamin T. Probst of Allison Park (left) and junior John J. Mackin of Carnegie package items for U.S. troops serving in Iraq. Campus Ministry sponsored a Lenten drive to collect items, such as food and toiletry supplies, which would fit in the backpacks of troops. Overall, Campus Ministry sent 50 gift bags containing socks, nail clippers, lip balm, tissues, lotion, gum, chips, granola bars and more. Fr. Vincent Zidek, O.S.B., said that the Saint Vincent community, particularly the students, were very generous with their gifts. He also credited fellow Benedictine monk, Fr. Lee Yoakam, O.S.B., an Army chaplain, with contacting another chaplain currently stationed in Iraq in order to send the items directly to his unit.
