Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center and its Center for Global Competitiveness will host a one-day seminar entitled, “Fraud Detection and Prevention: Is Your Business Protected?” on Thursday, April 24. This seminar will be held at the Arnold Palmer Regional Airport, Latrobe, from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with registration beginning at 9 a.m. Continental breakfast and lunch will be provided by DeNunzio’s Italian Chophouse. Fraud and identity theft are the fastest growing crimes in America today. Statistics show fraud losses at $20 billion a year and growing; 9.9 million Americans have been victims of identity theft. This threat not only affects individuals personally, but the business community as well. Speakers from the Federal Trade Commission, S&T Bank, and the U.S. Postal Service will give information to help protect participants and their businesses. Covered in this seminar are identity theft, fraud, embezzlement, scams, counterfeit checks, procedures and programs to help protect business information and more. The Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center is part of a statewide system of university-based economic development organizations, whose mission is to provide high quality education and consulting to entrepreneurs, to help them start and grow their businesses in the competitive global economy. The fee to attend is $119 per single registrant or $109 per person should two or more register together. Registration includes continental breakfast, lunch, workshop materials, and an optional one-year subscription (12 issues) to Inc. magazine, valued at $10.
