Nearly 300 Degrees Awarded at Commencement
 

Nearly 300 students were awarded bachelor’s or master’s degrees by President H. James Towey in a traditional public ceremony which recognized the completion of their degree studies at the 162nd annual commencement of Saint Vincent College on Saturday, May 10 in the Robert S. Carey Student Center. Mike Tomlin, Head Coach of the Pittsburgh Steelers, was the Commencement speaker.

Presiding over the academic exercises was the Right Rev. Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B., Chancellor of Saint Vincent College and Archabbot of Saint Vincent Archabbey. The invocation was given by the Most Rev. Lawrence E. Brandt, Bishop of Greensburg. The benediction was given by Archabbot Douglas.

Dr. Barbara Loe, who established the James and Margaret Tseng Loe China Studies Center at Saint Vincent, received an Honorary Doctor of Humane Letters, and Mr. Herman Dupré and Mrs. Mary “Sis” Dupré received Presidential Medals of Honor. Mr. Dupré is an inventor, entrepreneur and retired chief executive officer at Seven Springs Mountain Resort.
