In an ongoing effort to help start-up and existing businesses, the Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center (SBDC) will offer seminars entitled, The First Step to Small Business Success, several times throughout 2009.

The informal workshop is offered approximately every four weeks at locations throughout Westmoreland and Fayette Counties. Topics include how to get started, obtain financing, licenses and applications needed, and the importance and function of business, marketing or financial plans.

SBDC consultants will present this program and answer questions about initiating a successful business. Select events are co-sponsored by Chambers of Commerce – Latrobe Area, Laurel Highlands, Ligonier Valley, Norwin, Strongland and Westmoreland, and by Penn State Fayette, the Eberly Campus.

Seminars will be offered from 6 to 8 p.m. at Saint Vincent College on Wednesday, July 1 and Norwin Chamber, Irwin, on Tuesday, August 4. The workshop will also be offered from 1 to 3 p.m. at Penn State Fayette, The Eberly Campus on Wednesday, July 15.

There is no fee to attend. Each attendee will receive program materials, a $10 gift certificate toward the cost of another Saint Vincent College SBDC seminar and an optional free one-year subscription to Inc. Magazine.

The Saint Vincent College Small Business Development Center is part of a statewide system of university-based economic development organizations whose mission is to provide high quality education and consulting to entrepreneurs, to help them start and grow their businesses in the competitive global economy.
