The Saint Vincent College Alpha Lambda Delta chapter was awarded “The Order of the Torch Award 2009” at the organization’s national leadership workshop in Minneapolis, Minnesota, October 17. Accepting the award on behalf of the Saint Vincent College chapter were Taylor Guido, president; Amanda Jaber, vice president; and Stephanie Fitzgerald, junior advisor. The Order of the Torch is an annual award given by the service and academic-based honor society for first-year students to the most outstanding chapters of Alpha Lambda Delta in the nation. Each year, up to five chapters may be presented with the award, which recognizes service activities, membership services, communication and academic involvement. Application for the award is made by submitting a scrapbook that details the chapter’s activities. This is the third time the Saint Vincent chapter has been recognized. The Saint Vincent chapter will host an award ceremony at the college during the spring in order for the National Alpha Lambda Delta Council to present an official banner recognizing their achievement.
