| SVC Corporate Communications Class Tees Off For Success -- Blindfolded |
Saint Vincent College McKenna School lecturer Jennifer Miele challenged her Corporate Communications class to sharpen their communication skills by playing golf in the hallway outside the McKenna Conference Room at Saint Vincent College -- with their eyes shut. Sarah Ralutz, left, a senior communication student from Pittsburgh, hits a putt to the amusement of classmate Alexandria Muzika, a senior communication major from Uniontown, under the direction of Ms. Miele, center. The lesson divided the class of 21 into two groups – the “extroverts” who verbalize their thoughts easily and the “introverts” who are better at written communication. The extroverts were blindfolded and handed a putter while the introverts gave them verbal directions to sink the putt. Then the introverts were blindfolded and the extroverts directed them -- without talking. The goal was to encourage the students to improve on their communication weaknesses – and have some fun – while learning that successful communicators are also successful business people.
