Saint Vincent College Education Department, part of the School of Social Sciences, Communication, and Education, has been awarded a $15,000 grant from the YWCA of Pittsburgh to provide professional development for the Pennsylvania Early Learning Keys to Quality Project in 2009-2010. The YWCA received funds from the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare to administer the project for the Southwest Regional Key. Dr. Veronica Ent, associate professor and chair of the Education Department, will serve as the director of the project.

Saint Vincent will provide professional development and training opportunities to early learning practitioners throughout the Southwest Region of Pennsylvania for the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare, Office of Child Development and Early Learning. The grant will support the tuition costs for students enrolled in the Master of Science program in Curriculum and Instruction through which they will complete the necessary coursework for the director credential given by the Southwest Regional Key.
