Library closing over fall break

Saint Vincent library will be closed Saturday, Oct. 15 and Sunday, Oct. 16 for fall break. On Monday, Oct. 17, the library will be open from 8:30 a.m. to 3:45 p.m., and then regular hours will resume on Tuesday, Oct. 18.

Extended Weekend Break begins after last class on Oct. 14

Extended Weekend Break begins after the last class on Friday, Oct. 14. Aurelius, Bonaventure, Gerard, Rooney, Saint Benedict and Wimmer residence halls will be locked from 7 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 14 and will remain locked until noon on Tuesday, Oct. 18. Classes resume on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Any student who must remain on campus during the Extended Weekend Break MUST register at the Student Affairs Office before noon on Tuesday, Oct. 11. Failure to notify the office by this date may result in non-entry or a fine.

NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program opens up for applications

The National Science Foundation (NSF) will present approximately 1,000 awards this year to outstanding science, technology, engineering and mathematics students through the agency’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program. This prestigious fellowship provides awardees with a $30,000 annual stipend and a $10,500 annual cost-of-education allowance. The fellowship tenure is for three years and can be used over a five-year period.

The Oblates of Saint Benedict affiliated with Saint Vincent Archabbey will meet at 6:45 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, in Brownfield Room 202 of Saint Vincent Seminary for a discussion regarding “Joy,” based on Chapter 21 of the book “Benedict’s Way.”

Creative Writing Program to sponsor new Emerging Writers Series

The Creative Writing Program of the English Department and the School of Humanities and Fine Arts at Saint Vincent College is pleased to announce a new lecture program. The Emerging Writers Series will feature new writers who will participate in very short-term residencies at the College. Visiting writers will meet with individual student writers to read and critique their work, they will present public lectures on the craft of writing and a public reading of their own recent work.
