Dr. Kristin Harty of the Education Department is a co-author of a study that was recently published in the Journal of Learning Disabilities, a peer-reviewed journal. Dr. Rollanda O'Connor from the University of California at Riverside, Ms. Deborah Fulmer from the University of Pittsburgh and Dr. Kate Bell from West Virginia University are also authors of the study titled “Layers of Reading Intervention in Kindergarten through Third Grade: Changes in Teaching and Student Outcomes.” The article recounts how the reseachers successfully improved the reading abilities of students and decreased the incidence of reading disability in the schools where they conducted the study.
