NSF Graduate Research Fellowship Program opens up for applications

The National Science Foundation (NSF) will present approximately 1,000 awards this year to outstanding science, technology, engineering and mathematics students through the agency’s Graduate Research Fellowship Program. This prestigious fellowship provides awardees with a $30,000 annual stipend and a $10,500 annual cost-of-education allowance. The fellowship tenure is for three years and can be used over a five-year period. Awards will be announced in late March 2006. The National Science Foundation welcomes applications from all qualified science, technology, engineering and mathematics students, and applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals or permanent residents and in the early stages of research-based graduate studies in an NSF-supported field. Applications and deadline information are available at www.fastlane.nsf.gov. Deadlines are specific to each field, with the first set for Nov. 2. Additional program information is available at www.nsf.gov/grfp. For information regarding the application process, please e-mail help@nsfgradfellows.org.
