Saint Vincent College Phonathon Caller Job Description
As a student Phonathon caller, you will be expected to assist the College in reaching its goals through the phone solicitation of its alumni, parents, and friends. Although this is your primary duty, you will also be expected to:
- Work a minimum of two nights per week during the Fall and Spring Phonathon.
- Your shift begins at 5:30 p.m. and ends at 9:00 p.m.
- You are required to be on the telephone the entire time that you are working, except for an assigned 10-minute break.
- Serve as a liaison between Saint Vincent College and its alumni, parents, and friends.
- Build and maintain knowledge of the college and the Annual Fund Office.
- Keep accurate records of all information pertaining to the phone call. All call sheets must be coded correctly, legible, and filed in the appropriate bins.
- Practice good listening skills in an effort to tailor each call to the prospect’s needs or interests.
- Leave each prospect with a good feeling about Saint Vincent and their conversation with you, regardless of the pledge outcome.
- Always act in a professional manner.
- You are required to attend all Phonathon training sessions. The dates and times of these will be provided to you at a later date. The formal training sessions are paid. However, if a caller voluntarily terminates his or her employment before completing his or her first two calling sessions with the Phonathon, he or she forfeits pay for those training hours.
Confidentiality
In the course of your work you will see some very personal information about SVC alumni, parents, and friends. All donor information is confidential, and neither records nor discussion of this information is permitted outside the Phonathon room. In addition, please know that at any time your calls can be monitored for quality purposes.
Scheduling
The Fall Phonathon will run September through December and the Spring Phonathon will run January through May. Calling will take place Sunday through Thursday evenings from 5:30 to 9:00 p.m. All student callers are required to work a minimum of 2 evenings each week. Each caller will be assigned a time for one 10 minute break each shift.
Time Sheets/Paychecks
All student callers are expected to record worked hours on a timesheet. Students receive a monthly paycheck which will be delivered to each member's campus mailbox. Non-residents of the United States will need to obtain a social security card before they can get paid.
Incentives
Students have the opportunity to compete for incentives and are rewarded based on their performance.
