Saint Vincent College to host Undergraduate Biology Symposium April 23

Saint Vincent College will host the 26th annual Undergraduate Biology Symposium for Western Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 23. The symposium is being hosted by the Saint Vincent College Biology Department and the School of Natural Sciences, Mathematics, and Computing.

This one-day event will feature oral and poster presentations by undergraduate research students from colleges and universities around the region. In addition to students from Saint Vincent College, undergraduate student presenters are also expected from Duquesne University, Carlow University, Seton Hill University, Thiel College and Washington and Jefferson College.

“This event offers an excellent opportunity for students to showcase some of the excellent research they have done as part of their senior projects,” says symposium organizer, Dr. Bruce Bethke, associate professor of biology at Saint Vincent. “The students should be proud of the exceptional work that they have done, and we at Saint Vincent are especially pleased to host the symposium this year.”

The event will begin at 9 a.m. and registration is free. All participating students are invited to prepare either an oral or poster presentation. Faculty members, as well as non-presenting students, are welcome to attend. Those attending the event will also be invited to attend the activities which will be held on the Saint Vincent College campus that day as part of the Westmoreland Earth Day celebration.

Further information about the symposium is available from Dr. Bethke at bruce.bethke@email.stvincent.edu.
