Fr. Mark Gruber’s work published in new book
|
The publishing house, “Travelers’ Tales,” has released its latest book, “Stories to Live By,” which includes a chapter entitled, “Forgiveness,” which was written by Fr. Mark Gruber, O.S.B. The chapter is taken from Fr. Mark’s first book, “Wounded By Love.” Travelers’ Tales has through the years published several of the chapter headings from Fr. Mark’s various other books.

White House Director to be keynote speaker at Red Mass
|
Jim Towey, assistant to the President of the United States and director of the White House Office of Faith-Based & Community Initiatives, will be the keynote speaker at the 38th annual Red Mass, to be held at noon Friday, Sept. 30 in the Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica. Most Rev. Lawrence E. Brandt, J.C.D., Ph.D., will be the principal celebrant. Archabbot Douglas R. Nowicki, O.S.B. will concelebrate. The Red Mass is sponsored by Saint Vincent Archabbey, Seminary and College, and the Diocese of Greensburg.

December graduation applications due by Oct. 1
|
Any student anticipating a December 2005 graduation should have an application on file in the Registrar’s Office. Only those who have applied by Oct. 1 are eligible for graduation.

Mandatory recycling program begins at Saint Vincent College
|
There are now recycling bins all over campus. Saint Vincent College recycles the following items: glass, plastic, aluminum and bi-metal cans, cardboard, paper (office, computer, colored, magazines, envelopes with or without windows, newspaper with or without staples. Please do not recycle glossy paper) and computer printer ink cartridges.
Receptacles are marked and located in office spaces, at the end of hallways and/or corridors around campus and residence halls.

Parish renewal to be held at Saint Vincent Archabbey Basilica
|
Living Life to the Fullest, a parish renewal with Fr. Scott Seethaler, O.F.M., Cap., will be held Oct. 1-5 in the Saint Vincent Basilica. Evening presentations, which will begin at 7 p.m., include: Celebrating Family Life (Oct.2), Five Paths to Spiritual Maturity (Oct. 3), A Prayer for All Seasons (Oct. 4), and Living Life to the Fullest (Oct. 5). In addition, Father Scott will be the Homilist at the weekend Masses: Saturday Oct. 1 (5 p.m.) and Sunday, Oct. 2 (6, 7:30, 9:30, and 11:30 a.m.) He will also present a Scriptural Homily after the 8 a.m. Mass on Oct. 3, 4, and 5. All events are open to the public.

Soccer and hockey referees needed

The Latrobe-Unity Parks and Recreation Commission has referee positions available for soccer and hockey. Soccer referees are needed for Saturday mornings. Pay is $9.00 - $11.00 / hour. Hockey officials are needed Mondays through Thursdays and on Saturdays. Pay is $6.50 / hour.
