Andreoli grant recipient recalls trip to Mexico
|
Lara Kelly had the following to say about her summer excursion to Mexico, which was made possible by receipt of a student Andreoli travel grant.
“This summer I traveled to Cuernevaca, Mexico in order to study the Spanish language for four weeks. While there, I lived with a host family and took classes five days a week beginning at eight in the morning and ending around two in the afternoon. The classes consisted of three grammar sessions, one conversational session, and either one situational session or a workshop.

December graduation applications due by Oct. 1
|
Any student anticipating a December 2005 graduation should have an application on file in the Registrar’s Office. Only those who have applied by Oct. 1 are eligible for graduation. This is particularly important because, for the first time, Saint Vincent will be having a December Graduation Ceremony. In order to make the necessary preparations, all paperwork must be on file by the noted deadline.

Local musicians organize fundraiser for Hurricane Katrina relief
|
Three local musicians have taken up the gauntlet to assist those affected by Hurricane Katrina by organizing a Latrobe Disaster Relief Day to benefit the American Red Cross on Oct. 2 from noon to 9 p.m. at Latrobe Memorial Stadium. Organizers of the event are Erich Bucholtz, Mark Ashley and Ed Fritz, Jr., who are working with Kristina Dulashaw-Swank, executive director, Chestnut Ridge Chapter, American Red Cross, Latrobe Mayor Warren Markioni and Jeanne Ashley of the Latrobe-Unity Parks and Recreation Department. Community sponsors are the City of Latrobe and the Greater Latrobe School District.

U. S. Steel is currently seeking students to fill positions in programming, PC technical support, plant process control systems and various non-programming departments. Students must: be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or higher or be attending a two-year institution with a letter of acceptance into a four-year program; have completed at least two semesters before entering the program; have at least one full year remaining before graduation; be willing to work one of the following schedules part-time -- 16 hrs/wk for the spring and fall semester + 40 hrs/wk for the summer, full-time -- 40 hrs/wk for the spring/fall semester + 40 hrs/wk for the summer; be legally authorized to be employed in the United States of America; and pass a computer programmer aptitude test.
