Fr. Patrick T. Cronauer, O.S.B., assistant professor of religious studies, who teaches classes in both Saint Vincent College and Seminary, has published a book entitled: “The Stories about Naboth the Jezreelite: A Source, Composition and Redaction Investigation of 1 Kings 21 and Passages in 2 Kings 9,” in the prestigious and scholarly Biblical Series, Library of Hebrew Bible/Old Testament Studies (formerly, the Journal for the Study of Old Testament, Supplement Series), by T&T Clark International, a member of the Continuum Publishing Group.  This 240-page work is a revision of portions of Fr. Patrick’s doctoral work completed in April of 1999 at the Ecole Biblique et Archaeologique in Jerusalem, Israel. In his book, Fr. Patrick challenges the traditional interpretation of these texts and proposes a much more complex history of composition and editing, and a much later date for this material than is usually proposed.
