Coach Zawacki introduced self to senate as Associate Athletic Director and Coordinator of Carey Center. Values opinions and concerns/needs of the students, and as representatives of the student body, welcomed all to come to her with issues that arise. Introduction of senate made for new members. Treasurer’s Report- Deely ran through the estimated budget for the Fall semester. Questions about Melvin Platz tabled the acceptance of the budget. Vice President’s Report- Finau reminded senate that Fall Fest will be held October 1st. Entire senate is expected to help. Midnight Madness will be October 20th with the SGA/Administration/Faculty basketball game and Senior Party occurring as well. October 28th is the Haunted Underground and volunteers are needed to construct it. President’s Report- Walz explained that the lights in the budget for Melvin Platz have resulted from discussion with administrators by the executive board. There have been constant complaints about the poorly lit pathway and this year more foot traffic than ever occurs there. The bollards would be the same as are in Sebastian’s Garden and the lamp posts would be at the pathway entrances, matching the style of the clock in front of the library, totaling 32 lights all together. Debate arose among the senate. Within the next 2-3 years Melvin Platz will undergo a renovation, so paving at this time, although priced similarly, would be unadvantageous, for the lights can be reinstalled, at the cost of the college upon renovation completion. If approved, the lights will be installed within 6 weeks. Cheplic gave motion to approve budget as is by roll call vote. Seconded by Myers. By roll call vote, 21 approved, 17 disapproved, and 9 abstained. Motion passed. Walz thanked senate for participation in Ground-breaking event. Thanked DiAlesandro especially for persistence on facebook, and Puglisi for getting Shack meal equivalency extended on Saturday. Currently a meeting is convening to pick a new president for the college. An outside firm has been picked to administer. By the spring semester candidates will be in and a new president will be decided upon by the middle of the summer. Lights will be installed in the lot Q extension. Next year a $20 laundry fee will be included in tuition that will enable students to use the machines limitlessly. The card reader by the post office is not working. Motion given by Malesky to tell Rick King that SGA would like to use coins for the machines instead of the cards. Seconded by Babusci. By hand vote, all in favor. SGA will be having an Alumni Reunion dinner November 12th in the Westmoreland Room. Entire senate will be invited. Hartbauer is working on getting invitations sent to alumni. Committee assignments are on the back of the minutes. Office hours are as follows: Seniors-Monday, Juniors-Wednesday, Sophomores-Tuesday, and Freshmen-Thursday. Astorino, Feigel, and Clark nominated for SFAB. By roll call vote, senate elected Astorino and Feigel to hold the senate representative seats. Washers and dryers in Bonny not working and residents are using those in Gerry. The smoker’s ashtray by Wimmer keeps getting moved further away from its designated spot, regardless of the times it is replaced. Meeting adjourned- 9:05 PM Respectfully submitted by Sheena McBride
