At 7 PM there will be a concert, followed by fireworks at 9 PM. President’s Report- Walz explained the rules for being an elected member of the Student Government Association. If any person has three unexcused absences, which includes from Sunday meetings, committee meetings, class meetings, and office hours, he will be asked to resign from the senate. Already a few people have to be talked to concerning this. Walz also stressed the importance on voting. The senate has been elected by their peers to represent them and the rest of the student body. Last week there were 9 abstentions on the budget approval, which was an important financial decision. The only reason to abstain from voting is if the matter is too personally linked to a person or if it does not concern him. An example given was if a vote was concerning washers and dyers, a commuter might choose to abstain. One of the reasons for being on the SGA senate is to have an opinion and to let it be heard. Walz talked to Rick Williams and the lights will be soon installed in the lot Q extension. The card reader outside the post office is fixed. Announced three appointments that were necessary to make: Florendo, Clark, and Teets will be on EPC, and Keeler was appointed to be on the Code of the College committee. This Thursday at 9:15, Fr. Brian will be holding a Red Mass for members of the senate. Asked all to attend. The new alcohol policy will be strictly enforced. The college is cracking down on underage drinking, purchasing of alcohol for minors, and general public intoxication. In the past, presidents have actually been asked to step down for this behavior, and it may happen again if members of SGA behave in this manner. Issues from the floor included a request to move the hand sanitizer to the beginning of the line in the cafeteria. Currently the school is working towards allowing alumni to keep their email address for life. Meeting adjourned at 8:17 PM Respectfully submitted by Sheena McBride
