Ashley returns for her third season on the Lady Bearcats, and has proven to be a valuable commodity both at the plate and on the pitcher's mound. Last season, she earned Presidents' Athletic Conference Coaches Honors as a pitcher, as she made 10 appearances on the hill, throwing six complete games. She struck out 53 batters in 63 innings, finishing with a 2.69 ERA. At the plate, she had 15 hits, including two doubles and a home run, while also scoring 10 runs.
As a freshman, she made 18 starts at pitcher, striking out 69 batters in 108 innings and finishing with a 2.82 ERA. She also had 13 hits, including four doubles, and drove in seven RBIs.
At Connellsville HS, she was a four-year letterwinner in both softball and volleyball, while she also played two seasons of basketball. She was the softball team captain during her senior campaign. The daughter of Betty and Tony Whipkey, Ashley was born 7-20-87, and she is majoring in Elementary Instruction with a minor in English.
