April is the lone senior on the Lady Bearcats in 2008. Last season, she appeared in 24 games, making 23 starts.  She was fourth on the team with 16 hits, and struck out just five times in 81 plate appearances. 

She was a four-year letterwinner in both softball and volleyball at nearby Greensburg Salem HS, leading her softball team in batting average during her senior season.

Born 3-18-86, she is the daughter of Randy and Carol Hawkey.  April is majoring in Environmental Science with minors in Biology and Public Administration.
