The Lady Bearcats opened their 2008 campaign with a doubleheader split
against Hanover College, playing in Titusville, FL.
Hanover won the opener by a score of 2-1, despite a strong pitching
performance by both Mollie Stock and Michelle Greenawalt.
April Hawkey went 3-for-4, while Rachel Komarinski, Greenawalt, Jostalyn
Klosky and Kerstin Makowski each went 1-for-3.
In game two, Ashley Whipkey threw a 2-hit shutout, as SVC won by a score of
4-0. Hawkey was 2-for-4, while Leanna Seminsky was 1-3 with a double.

The Lady Bearcats swept Hanover in a doubleheader, winning game one by a
score of 5-1, then coming back from a 5-0 deficit to win the second game,
6-5.
In game one, SVC trailed 1-0 until the 5th inning. April Hawkey started the
rally with a one-out single. Next Kerstin Makowski followed with a single,
putting runners on first and second. Mollie Stock hit into a fielders choice,
but reached on an error, loading the bases for Rachel Komarinski, who delivered
a clutch RBI single. Jostalyn Klosky then stepped to the plate and did the
same, as did Ashley Whipkey, who drove in a pair of runs to make it 4-1. Jenna
Bealko then hit a sharp grounder back to the mound, but a throwing error led to
SVC's fifth run of the inning, and it was all that pitcher Stock, who went the
distance, would need.
In game two, SVC fell behind by a score of 5-0 entering the final inning.
Komarinski led off the 7th with a single, then Brittany Caracci singled, moving
Komarinski to second. The runners moved up on a wild pitch, then Whipkey drew
a walk on four pitches. The last ball, however, was another wild pitch,
allowing Komarinski to score, making it 5-1.
Shannon Ballantyne drew another 4-pitch walk, to load the bases for Bealko,
who singled home Caracci to make it 5-2. Leanna Seminsky promptly smacked a
2-run single that made it 5-4. Hawkey walked to reload the bases for Makowski,
who singled up the middle to tie the game at 5-5. Stock's sacrifice fly brought
home Seminsky, completing the comeback and giving SVC the 6-5 lead.
Whipkey finished up the complete game and earned her second win of the
season, as SVC improved to 3-1 on the year.

The Lady Bearcats dropped a doubleheader in Florida to Valley City State
College.
Michelle Greenawalt took the loss in game one, as SVC fell by a score of
8-2. April Hawkey was 2-for-4 at the plate.
In game two, SVC lost a close 6-5 decision. Shannon Ballantyne was 2-2 with
a double and a walk, while Brittany Caracci was 2-4. Leanna Seminsky was 1-3
and Rachel Komarinski doubled for SVC (3-3). Ashley Whipkey took the loss.

The Lady Bearcats swept Penn State-Fayette in a big way at home. SVC
won the opener by a score of 11-0. The team scored a run in the first
thanks to a pair of walks, a hit by pitch, and two passed balls. Three
more passed balls, along with four walks and a single by Mollie Stock
made the score 6-0 after two innings. In all, SVC drew 13 walks in the
game. Jostalyn Klosky tripled for SVC and Stock tossed the shutout. In game two, SVC scored 8 runs in the first, including a grand slam by Courtney Buhl, en route to a 19-1 victory. Jenna
Bealko was 3-for-3 with a pair of doubles, and April Hawkey was 1-for-1
with a double and three walks. Ashley Whipkey earned the pitching win,
giving up no earned runs.

Mollie Stock threw her second no-hitter in as many outings, as SVC
swept Penn State-Allegheny by scores of 10-0 and 9-6 on the road. Stock
gave up no hits and struck out 10 in the first game of the day. In her
most recent start, March 15 against Penn State-Fayette, she also threw
a no-hitter. Ashley Whipkey was 3-for-4 with a pair of triples,
while Jenna Bealko was 2-4 with a triple and a single in the 6-inning
contest. Michelle Greenawalt also tripled. In game two, Greenawalt started, then yielded to Whipkey, who struck out 12 in relief. Rachel Komarinski was 2-4 with a triple. Whipkey and Courtney Buhl each doubled for the Lady Bearcats (7-3).

Junior pitcher Mollie Stock threw her third consecutive no-hitter, and the
Lady Bearcats took game one from visiting Thiel College The final scores were 3-0 and 13-2.
Stock struck out eight en route to her third straight no-hitter, following a
March 15 game against Penn State-Fayette and a March 27 game at Penn
State-Greater Allegheny.
Shannon Ballantyne led off the SVC third inning with a double and later
scored on Rachel Komarinski's single to put the hosts up 1-0. The Lady
Bearcats added two insurance runs in the fifth.
April Hawkey was 2-for-4 in game one, with a double. Ballantyne was 2-3 and
Ashley Whipkey was 1-3.
In the second game, Thiel jumped to a 2-0 advantage, but SVC rallied for four
runs in the top of the fourth inning. In the seventh, SVC added plenty of
insurance, with a grand slam from Leanna Seminsky and a 2-run home run by
Komarinski.
Whipkey picked up the win, giving up just 2 hits and striking out 8. She
also went 3-4 at the plate with a double and a triple. Komarinski also added a
double.

The Lady Bearcats split a low-scoring doubleheader with visiting Juniata
College. After Juniata took game one by a score of 2-0, Saint Vincent rebounded
with a 5-1 win in the nightcap.
Mollie Stock's no-hit streak came to a close in game one, but she was still
effective, striking out eight and giving up just five hits. Juniata managed to
score one run in the second inning with a pair of hits, and added a solo home
run in the seventh. The Lady Bearcats only had four hits, a pair of singles by
Ashley Whipkey, and singles by Jostalyn Klosky and Maura Wahl.
In game two, Juniata again jumped to an early 1-0 lead, but the Lady Bearcats
scored five runs in support of Whipkey, who earned the pitching win.
Whipkey led the offense by going 2-for-3. Wahl and Jenna Bealko recorded
doubles, and Rachel Komarinski tripled.

The Lady Bearcats improved to 12-4 on the season with a doubleheader sweep of visiting Mount Aloysius College. In game one, the Lady Bearcats rallied for a 4-2 win after falling behind 2-0 in the first. The Mounties tallied five hits off pitcher Mollie Stock in the opening inning, but Stock quickly settled down shutting down the visitors over the final six innings. She helped her own cause at the plate as well. In the second inning, Jostalyn Klosky led off with a double, then Stock doubled her home to make it 2-1. Stock later scored on a double by Maura Wahl that tied the game. The Lady Bearcats scored two more runs in the third inning. Courtney Buhl led off with a single, and pinch runner Leanna Seminsky scored on a two-out double by Stock. Shannon Ballantyne then singled Stock home to make it 4-2. Saint Vincent won the second game by a score of 5-0 with pitcher Ashley Whipkey going the distance to improve to 7-1 on the year. Whipkey yielded just two hits and struck out six. Wahl provided the big offensive play, a 3-run home run. Klosky added a triple and Jenna Bealko singled.

The Lady Bearcats continued their strong start to the 2008 season, sweeping Waynesburg University in a Presidents' Athletic Conference doubleheader. Saint Vincent won the opener 2-0, and captured the sweep with a 4-0 victory over the Yellow Jackets in the nightcap. In game one, SVC got on the scoreboard in the second inning. Maura Wahl started the inning by reaching on an error, and moved to third on a single by Jenna Bealko. Michelle Greenawalt then gave the Lady Bearcats a 1-0 lead with a single to right. The visiting Lady Bearcats scored an insurance run in the seventh. Greenawalt led off the frame with a double down the left field line, moved to third on an April Hawkey single, and then scored on a Rachel Komarinski single through the right side. Mollie Stock once again turned in a strong pitching performance. In seven innings, she struck out five and allowed only three hits, just one for extra bases. Greenawalt, Jostalyn Klosky, and Komarinski each had two hits at the plate. In the nightcap, SVC took a 2-0 lead in the third. Leanna Seminsky singled to start the frame, Greenawalt reached on an error, and Hawkey singled. Three batters later, Stock doubled, driving in Greenawalt and Seminsky. The Lady Bearcats then scored twice more in the fifth. Wahl singled, and was moved to second on a Komarinski sacrifice bunt. Stock then reached on an error, scoring Wahl, and Klosky followed with a single to drive in Stock. Ashley Whipkey gave SVC another dominating pitching performance, going seven innings, striking out seven, and allowing just two hits.
Offensively, SVC pounded out 11 hits, with Seminsky, Wahl, and Hawkey each recording two.

Visiting Washington & Jefferson College swept a pair of games over Saint Vincent. Final scores were 7-2 and 13-1. W&J's Hannah Schulz overpowered SVC, hitting three home runs and driving in five runs in the opening game, as Michelle Greenawalt went the distance and took the loss. SVC had only two hits off W&J starter Rebecca Nachreiner, a double by Mollie Stock, singles by Maura Wahl and Kerstin Makowski. SVC was kept off the scoreboard until the bottom of the 7th inning. In game two, SVC loaded the bases in the first but was not able to score, and the Presidents pulled away thanks to an 8-run third inning. Schulz was 2-for-2 with a pair of doubles and a walk. Her three RBI in game two gave her 8 RBI for the twinbill. The Lady Bearcats made three key errors, leading to eleven unearned runs off losing pitcher Mollie Stock. Shannon Ballantyne singled home the lone SVC run in the fourth inning. Other hits were recorded by Leanna Seminsky, Stock, and April Hawkey.

The Lady Bearcats split a home doubleheader with Bethany College, dropping the opener 9-4 before rebounding to win game two by a 12-1 score. In game one, Bethany (9-13) scored three in the first and then one in the second to take a quick 4-0 lead. The Lady Bearcats then rallied in the fourth. Rachel Komarinski was hit by a pitch, and then moved to third on a Mollie Stock double. After Shannon Ballantyne walked to load the bases, Kerstin Makowski drove a double to right center, clearing the bases and bringing SVC to within one at 4-3. The Bison, who were the home team for game one, then scored once in the fourth and twice in both the fifth and the sixth, putting the game away. The Lady Bearcats scored their fourth and final run of the game in the top of the sixth. Mollie Stock and Jostalyn Klosky hit back-to-back singles, and then Stock scored on another double from Makowski. Makowski finished the opener 2-4 at the plate with four RBI's, while Stock went 2-4, scoring twice. Starting pitcher Michelle Greenawalt started for SVC and took the loss. Courtney Lax led the Bison at the plate, hitting a pair of home runs. Ashley Marinacci was 3-4, with two doubles and two RBI's. Heather Immesberger earned the win. In the nightcap, the Lady Bearcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. April Hawkey doubled to lead off the frame, and moved to third on Shannon Ballantyne's single. Leanna Seminsky then brought them both home with a three-run homer to left center. Bethany scored a run in the top of the third, but SVC picked up right where it left off in the bottom half of the frame. Komarinski, Stock, and Klosky singled to start the frame, and Courtney Buhl then hit a fly to right, scoring Komarinski. It was then Ballantyne's turn to go deep, sending a towering drive over the left field fence to put SVC up 8-0. Komarinski, Stock, and Klosky again hit consecutive singles to start the fourth inning, and Buhl was then walked, scoring Komarinski. Hawkey then singled through the left side, scoring a pair, and then Maura Wahl got in on the act, singling up the middle to score Buhl and give SVC the 12-1 win. The 12 runs were more than enough for SVC starter Stock, who earned the five-inning complete game victory, allowing just three hits and striking out six. Hawkey finished game two a perfect 3-3 at the plate, with three RBI's and two runs scored. Wahl also had three hits, while Komarinski, Stock, Klosky, and Ballantyne all went 2-3. In all, the Lady Bearcats pounded out 15 hits.

The Lady Bearcats lost both ends of a doubleheader to Thomas More College on the road in Kentucky. In the opener, SVC trailed 1-0 through five innings, but Rachel Komarinski tied the game with a solo home run in the sixth. However, the Saints came back to win the game in extra innings, scoring in the 8th off losing pitcher Mollie Stock. Jenna Bealko and Michelle Greenawalt also had hits for SVC. In game two, SVC lost by a score of 7-3, with Ashley Whipkey taking the loss. Leanna Seminsky had a double and a single, while Jostalyn Klosky and Komarinski each had two singles. Brittany Caracci doubled for the Lady Bearcats (15-9).

The Lady Bearcats split with Westminster in New Wilmington, PA, losing game one by a 12-7 count before rebounding to take a dramatic nightcap 3-2. In the opener, Shannon Ballantyne tripled, while Mollie Stock, Ashley Whipkey, and Jostalyn Klosky all doubled. Stock, Leanna Seminsky, and Jenna Bealko all had two hits for SVC in the losing effort. Stock was saddled with the pitching loss. In the nightcap, a two-run single by SVC's Rachel Komarinski in the sixth inning proved to be the game winner, as the Titans loaded the bases in the seventh, but Klosky ended the game with a diving catch to preserve the win. Whipkey was the winning pitcher for SVC, going all seven innings while allowing just four hits. Ballantyne went 2-3, with another triple, as did Brittany Carraci. Seminsky added a double for the Lady Bearcats. After the split, SVC's record stands at 16-10, as the Lady Bearcats have set a team record for wins in the season, eclipsing the 1986 squad that finished 15-10.

In the opener, Grove City scored twice in the first inning, but SVC fought back in the fourth. April Hawkey led off with a walk, then Rachel Komarinski singled up the middle. Mollie Stock then cleared the bases with a triple, and came in to score on a throwing error, making it 3-2 Saint Vincent. The Lady Bearcats added another run in the sixth, as Komarinski singled and later scored on a fielder's choice. Mollie Stock was the winning pitcher, giving up just two hits and striking out four. She is now 8-4 on the year. In game two, Saint Vincent scored twice in the third inning. Leanna Seminsky led off with a single, then moved to second when Kerstin Makowski reached on sacrifice bunt attempt that resulted in a Grove City error. Rachel Komarinski then reached on a failed fielder's choice, loading the bases. A wild pitch scored Seminsky, then Ashley Whipkey doubled home Makowski. Grove City scored three runs to take the lead, but Whipkey tied the game in the 5th inning with a home run to right field. However, she then took the pitching loss, as the hosts scored in their half of the fifth to seal the win.

scores of 12-4 and 5-1.
In the first game, Rachel Komarinski was 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles.
Mollie Stock and Courtney Buhl each added two doubles, while Ashley Whipkey and
Shannon Ballantyne had one double each. Stock (9-5) was the winning pitcher.
In game two, Whipkey became a 10-game winner on the season against just three
losses, and helped her own cause with a home run. Buhl, Jostalyn Klosky and
Leanna Seminsky each added a pair of singles, while Stock doubled.

The Lady Bearcats won their 20th game of the season, splitting a doubleheader
with Penn State-Beaver at home.
The Lions won the first game 1-0, but SVC came back to win game two by a
score of 6-1.
Mollie Stock pitched well but took the loss in the opener, striking out nine,
but the Lady Bearcats managed only five hits. Jostalyn Klosky had a double,
while April Hawkey, Leanna Seminsky, Shannon Ballantyne and Courtney Buhl all
had singles.
In game two, Klosky went 3-for-4 as SVC picked up the win. Ashley Whipkey
was the winning pitcher, and doubled at the plate. Stock, Rachel Komarinski,
Hawkey and Seminsky all had singles.

The Lady Bearcats lost a doubleheader on the road to former conference foe
Point Park University.
In game one, SVC was held hitless, losing 7-0. Mollie Stock recorded six
strikeouts for Saint Vincent but took the pitching loss.
In game two, Point Park completed the sweep with a 4-3 win. Ashley Whipkey
took the loss, but went 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles. Leanna Seminsky
was 3-4 with a double, and Shannon Ballantyne was 2-3.

with a pair of shutouts.
Mollie Stock pitched a two-hitter and struck out five in game one, and the
offense provided plenty of hits in the game, which was shortened to a 5-inning
matchup with a final score of 11-0.
Kerstin Makowski was 2-for-2 with three runs scored and 2 RBI, while Brittany
Caracci was 2-2, scored twice and drove in a pair of runs.
It was more of the same in game two, as the 5-inning game resulted in a 14-0
Lady Bearcat win. Just as Stock did in game one, Ashley Whipkey held the Barons
to just two hits, and struck out four.
Leanna Seminksy was 3-3 with a walk and three runs scored. Jostalyn Klosky
and Shannon Ballantyne each went 3-3 with a double and a walk.

The Lady Bearcats finished the season with a 22-16 record after dropping two
games to Geneva College.
Geneva won the first game by a score of 5-2. Shannon Ballantyne was 2-for-3
with a double, while Mollie Stock, who took the loss, also went 2-3 at the
plate. Leanna Seminsky doubled, and Brittany Caracci singled for the Lady
Bearcats.
Geneva won game two by a 10-2 score, with Ashley Whipkey taking the loss.
Ballantyne accounted for both SVC runs with a 2-run home run. Stock and April
Hawkey each singled.
