The Lady Bearcats' most successful season in team history has been capped off with five players receiving Coaches Honors from the Presidents' Athletic Conference. Outfielders Leanna Seminsky and April Hawkey, catcher Rachel Komarinski, and pitchers Mollie Stock and Ashley Whipkey all received Presidents' Athletic Conference Coaches Honors, the equivalent of all-conference accolades for school's in provisional status in NCAA Division-III. Seminsky had a fine freshman campaign for the Lady Bearcats, leading SVC with a .350 average (28-80), while knocking four doubles and two home runs with 14 RBIs. She also scored 25 runs and walked 10 times. Hawkey finished her senior season with a .310 batting average (31-100), scoring 19 runs and leading the team with a .439 on base percentage. She was also solid in the field, committing only two errors in 35 games. Komarinski, a junior, earned Coaches Honors for the second straight year. The catcher hit .316, leading the team in hits (36) and home runs (3), while driving in 21 runs and scoring 23 times. Stock finished the season with a 10-8 record and 2.38 ERA, posting 17 complete games and five shutouts. Opponents hit just .214 off of the righty, while she struck out 117 hitters in 113 innings. She also made history earlier in the season, throwing three straight no-hitters. Whipkey ended the year 12-5, throwing 15 complete games and four shutouts while posting a 2.53 ERA. In 106 innings, she fanned 98 hitters, surrendering an opponent batting average of just .229. She also put up a solid year offensively, batting .295 (28-95) with two homers, 15 RBIs, and a team-high 10 doubles. The Lady Bearcats, coached by Nicole Hinerman, finished the 2008 campaign with a 22-16 record, shattering the team record for wins and winning percentage.
