The Lady Bearcats were swept in a road doubleheader by Bethany College, 8-2 and 9-0. In the opener, the host Bison jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the first inning, and the Lady Bearcats were unable to recover. Bethany then tacked on one run in the fourth and three more in the sixth to cruise to the win. SVC used small ball in the third inning to score its first run of the game. Emily Petrowsky singled to lead off the inning, moved to second on a sacrifice bunt, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and then came home on an RBI ground out from Jenna Bealko. The Lady Bearcats then scored their final run in the sixth, on a solo home run from Rachel Komarinski. The Bison were able to take advantage of a four Lady Bearcat errors to score six unearned runs. Bethanie Kern started and went the distance for SVC in the circle, allowing 10 hits and two earned runs, walking four. In the nightcap, the Lady Bearcat bats continued to struggle, as the team amassed just four singles, including two from Komarinski and one apiece from Petrowsky and Leanna Seminsky. Bethany scored three runs in the third, and then capped off the five-inning contest with six more runs in the top of the fifth. Mollie Stock was saddled with the loss in the circle, working all five innings and allowing six earned runs on nine hits, while striking out two. After the two losses, the Lady Bearcats' record stands at 9-14, and the team will look to return to winning ways on Wednesday morning, hosting a doubleheader with PAC leader Thomas More College beginning at 11am.
