The Lady Bearcats extended their win streak to five games with a doubleheader sweep of Thiel College on the road. In the opener, the Lady Bearcats took advantage of six Thiel errors to score an 8-5 win, while in the nightcap, Lady Bearcat pitcher Ashley Whipkey picked up her fourth win of the season, working a complete game and allowing just one hit, as the Lady Bearcats won 3-0. In the day's first game, Whipkey propelled the SVC offense, going 2-3 at the plate with a triple and two RBIs. Leanna Seminsky and Angela Doyle also had two hits apiece, with Seminsky also scoring a pair of runs and Doyle driving in two RBIs and scoring once. Mollie Stock went all seven innings in the circle for the win, scattering 14 hits and striking out six while only issuing one walk. Saint Vincent got off to a hot start in the nightcap as well, scoring twice in the first inning on the strength of a Whipkey RBI triple and a Doyle run scoring single. The two runs were more than enough for Whipkey, as she faced just two batters over the minimum and allowed just four batters to reach base. The Lady Bearcats closed the day's scoring in the fifth when Maura Wahl, who tripled to lead off the frame, scored on a fielder's choice off the bat of Whipkey. Whipkey struck out four without any walks in the circle, while she helped her own cause by reaching base in all three of her plate appearances. Rachel Komarinski reached base twice for the Lady Bearcats, and joined Whipkey and Wahl as SVC's run scorers. With the win, their fifth straight and sixth in their last eight games, the Lady Bearcats improve to 7-7 on the season. They will return to action on Monday, traveling to Mount Aloysius College for a 3pm, non-conference doubleheader.
