The Lady Bearcats split a home doubleheader with Bethany College, dropping the opener 9-4 before rebounding to win game two by a 12-1 score.

In game one, Bethany (9-13) scored three in the first and then one in the second to take a quick 4-0 lead.

The Lady Bearcats then rallied in the fourth.  Rachel Komarinski was hit by a pitch, and then moved to third on a Mollie Stock double.  After Shannon Ballantyne walked to load the bases, Kerstin Makowski drove a double to right center, clearing the bases and bringing SVC to within one at 4-3.

The Bison, who were the home team for game one, then scored once in the fourth and twice in both the fifth and the sixth, putting the game away.

The Lady Bearcats scored their fourth and final run of the game in the top of the sixth.  Mollie Stock and Jostalyn Klosky hit back-to-back singles, and then Stock scored on another double from Makowski.

Makowski finished the opener 2-4 at the plate with four RBI's, while Stock went 2-4, scoring twice.  Starting pitcher Michelle Greenawalt started for SVC and took the loss.

Courtney Lax led the Bison at the plate, hitting a pair of home runs.  Ashley Marinacci was 3-4, with two doubles and two RBI's.  Heather Immesberger earned the win.

In the nightcap, the Lady Bearcats jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning.  April Hawkey doubled to lead off the frame, and moved to third on Shannon Ballantyne's single.  Leanna Seminsky then brought them both home with a three-run homer to left center.

Bethany scored a run in the top of the third, but SVC picked up right where it left off in the bottom half of the frame.  Komarinski, Stock, and Klosky singled to start the frame, and Courtney Buhl then hit a fly to right, scoring Komarinski.  It was then Ballantyne's turn to go deep, sending a towering drive over the left field fence to put SVC up 8-0.

Komarinski, Stock, and Klosky again hit consecutive singles to start the fourth inning, and Buhl was then walked, scoring Komarinski.  Hawkey then singled through the left side, scoring a pair, and then Maura Wahl got in on the act, singling up the middle to score Buhl and give SVC the 12-1 win.

The 12 runs were more than enough for SVC starter Stock, who earned the five-inning complete game victory, allowing just three hits and striking out six.

Hawkey finished game two a perfect 3-3 at the plate, with three RBI's and two runs scored.  Wahl also had three hits, while Komarinski, Stock, Klosky, and Ballantyne all went 2-3.  In all, the Lady Bearcats pounded out 15 hits.

With the split, SVC's record moves to 15-7, matching the 1985 squad's school record for wins in a season. The Lady Bearcats return to action on Saturday, traveling to Thomas More College for a 1pm doubleheader.
