The Presidents' Athletic Conference has announced that three Lady Bearcats have earned PAC Coaches Honors for the 2009 season.

Senior catcher Rachel Komarinski, senior outfielder Maura Wahl, and senior pitcher/first baseman Ashley Whipkey received the awards, which are equivalent to All-PAC status for athletes from schools, like Saint Vincent, that are provisional members of NCAA Division-III.

Komarinski, a graduate of Hempfield High School, started 28 games for the Lady Bearcats in 2009, batting .321 (26-81).  She led the team with 15 RBIs, while she hit two home runs and five doubles while scoring 17 runs.  She also was strong defensively behind the plate, committing just six errors in 140 chances.  This is the third straight season in which she was awarded with PAC Coaches Honors.

Wahl, a graduate of North Hills High School, led the Lady Bearcats with a .380 batting average and 27 hits, posting six doubles, one triple, and one home run while driving in 12 RBIs and scoring 17 runs.   She committed just one error in right field, while tallying four outfield assists.

Whipkey, a graduate of Connellsville High School, is now a two-time recipient of PAC Coaches Honors, as she earned the award last season, as well.  She posted a dominant season in the circle, finishing 7-2 with a 2.28 ERA and 40 strikeouts in 59 innings.  She also boasted eight complete games, and allowed an opponent batting average of just .235. 

She also turned in a solid year offensively, batting .304 (14-46) with a double, two triples, and seven RBIs and seven runs scored.

The Lady Bearcats, coached by Nicole Hinerman, finished the 2009 season with an 11-19 record.
