Radio Discipline
- All transmissions will be in clear language.
- Microphones will store in their cradles when not in use.
- Transmissions will be short and to the point.
- All fire frequencies are assumed to be monitored by others.
- Radio “checks” will only be accomplished after maintenance or when transmission capability is in question.
- The term “Emergency Traffic” will be used to clear the fire net of all other radio transmissions when a fire fighter’s life is threatened at the fire scene.
Medical Responses
- Fire fighters will initiate medical care within the scope of their abilities.
- Fire fighters will ensure that a safe environment for ambulance personnel to work in is established.
- All responders shall wear the appropriate level of infection control prevention, including latex gloves at all times.
- Upon arrival of ambulance personnel, fire fighters will assume a support role.
- At least one fire department crew will remain on scene until a mutual agreement with ambulance personnel is reached on the need for continued support or a higher priority call is received.
