Summer Protocol for Alarm Notification

  • The summer protocol will be in effect form May 12 until August 31st
  • Upon activation of the switchboard fire panel the operator will immediately page out the SVFD announcing the location of the alarm.
  • Following this, the operator will contact 911, reporting an automatic alarm and the building in which the activation is occurring.
  • Next, the operator will notify Security of the location and nature of the alarm.
    • The first SVFD fire fighter on scene will size up the situation and contact the operator as to whether 911 needs to be either updated with further information or if the alarm can be cancelled.
    • If no SVFD fire fighter responds to the page, Security will be responsible for investigating the cause of the alarm and reporting the information to the operator, who will notify 911 of the updated status of the alarm.
    • St. Vincent fire fighters, in residence on campus during the summer, will keep the operator and the Safety and Security office informed, in writing, of vacation dates.
    • St. Vincent fire fighters on campus during the summer will also inform the operator of all daily absences from/ returns to campus.
