Championship match MVP Kristin Hozak had 55 assists, five kills with no errors, three aces and two blocks.

"It was a complete team effort," said Coach Sue Hozak, "from the offense to the defense.  Both were very balance. The bench did an outstanding job - they were louder than the Bridgeport crowd.

"We've had two weeks off and we struggled in the first game a little because of it.  In the fourth game, we were down 19-13, and we got it within two with Shearer serving, then Crista Calgaro came in and we tied it up at 20.  From there it was back and forth. Shearer made a great play on the game point, and Kelly put the free ball over for the win.  It was a great defensive effort."

She added, "Throughout the season, this team has always had the ability to perform at a very high level.  Sometimes, that didn't always translate into success on the court, but they've worked hard in practice.  Before we went out into this match, we talked about the fact that winning the ECAC was our team goal.  They put it together, they regrouped after the first game, and did what they needed to win.  We're very proud of them stepping up to do that."

The victory gives SVC their second consecutive ECAC Division II crown, with a victory over Adelphi University last year.
