SVC Volleyball
Head Coach Susan M. Hozak

Sue has coached the Lady Bearcat volleyball team from its inception in 1985, to the present.

As a coach—and educator—Sue believes in educating and guiding students by providing a positive environment for excelling academically . . .athletically . . . and socially . . . to maximize their potential as valuable members of society.  And it works.

A 1983 graduate of Waynesburg College, Hozak received the degree of Bachelor of Arts in Public Administration.

Her volleyball playing began at Norwin High School, where she was a member of three state championship teams. As a three-time All-District setter at Waynesburg, Sue was on teams which won three district championships, competing in three NAIA National Championship Tournaments.

At Saint Vincent, she serves as Assistant to the Director of Athletics, head women’s volleyball coach, and assistant women’s softball coach.

Sue serves as NAIA’s Region IX volleyball chair, and as national rater.

Coach Hozak's personal honors have included: 2003 American Mideast Conference North Division Coach of the Year, 1994 NAIA/AVCA Northeast Region Coach of the Year, 1994 Keystone-Empire Conference Coach of the Year, NAIA District 18 Coach of the Year: 1990-92-93, and KECC Coach of the Year in 1994.

As the Lady Bearcats first—and only—coach, Sue’s record is 357-300 through 2004.

Assistant Coach Megan Kelly

Megan is a 2000 graduate of Shannock Valley High School (now West Shamokin HS).  At Shannock Valley, she competed in the state championships each year that she played.

In college, she was a defensive specialist for the Saint Vincent Lady Bearcats in 2000 and 2001.

She and her husband Brandon, a former SVC baseball player, live in Vandergrift, PA with their son, Ethan.

This will be Megan's second year as an assistant coach with the Lady Bearcats.

Assistant Coach Scott Wisneski

A native of Derry, PA, Scott played four years for his high school program at Derry Area, lettering twice.  He was a member of the team from 1986-89, during which time they won two state titles and once finished as the PIAA runners-up.

Scott is currently in his seventh year coaching the boys' program at Greater Latrobe High School, and also coaches the Junior Olympic team for the Foothills Club.
