The Lady Bearcats snapped their four game losing streak in a big way, defeating Westminster 91-64 at the Carey Center. SVC's Janelle Reed led all scorers with 31 points, while teammate Caryn Glassbrenner tied her own school record with seven blocked shots, while adding 11 points. Laura Klimchock's 17 points and Ashley Campbell's career-high 15 rounded out the double-digit scorers for the SVC. In all, nine Saint Vincent players scored at least one point. The Lady Bearcats led throughout, and used a 15-0 run in the game's opening minutes, with nine points coming from Reed, to open up a 19-5 lead just six minutes into play. The Titans cut their deficit to nine, 28-19, with six minutes left in the half, but Reed, Glassbrenner, Campbell, and Lauren Reilly each scored a pair of buckets over the final stages of the half to take a 44-29 lead into the intermission. Saint Vincent picked up right where it left off to open the second half, with a Klimchock bucket sandwiched between two Reed three-pointers to put the Lady Bearcats up 55-31 with 17 minutes left to play. The Lady Bearcat lead continued to hover around 25 points over the final 15 minutes of play, and grew to as large as 29 on two seperate occasions- on a Kathy Bianco three with seven minutes left, and later on when Klimchock hit her final basket of the night, putting the Lady Bearcats up 86-57 with four minutes left to play. For the game, the Lady Bearcats shot a season-high 55 percent from the field, while the Titans were only able to convert on 34 percent of their shots. SVC's defense also forced 26 Westminster turnovers, with Reed leading both sides with four steals. Emilee Ackerman, the Presidents' Athletic Conference's leading scorer, led Westminster (11-6) with 26 points and added nine rebounds. With the win, the Lady Bearcats improve to 5-12 on the season. They will be back in action on Wednesday night, traveling to PAC foe Chatham University for a 7pm contest.
