The visiting Washington & Jefferson College Presidents defeated the Lady Bearcats 83-57 in the Carey Center. Janelle Reed and Laura Klimchock each led the Lady Bearcats with 15 points. The Lady Bearcats started slowly, as W&J raced out to leads of 13-3 and 31-13 in the first half, before taking a 41-20 lead into intermission. Over the first 20 minutes, SVC connected on just five of 31 field goal attempts (16 percent), and the Presidents outrebounded SVC 31-15. W&J continued to pull away in the second half, outscoring the Lady Bearcats 23-9 over the first six minutes to go up 64-29. Despite starting slowly, the Lady Bearcats did finish with a flurry, outscoring W&J 26-11 over the final nine minutes, with Klimchock scoring six points over that span and Kathy Bianco and Brittany Hall five apiece. It was too little, too late, however, as the Presidents improved to 10-4. W&J was led by 15 points from Stephanie Smith, while Maggie Gibson recorded the double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. For the game, the Presidents grabbed 57 rebounds compared to 29 by SVC. With the defeat, SVC falls to 4-10 on the season, and will look to get back to winning ways on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Grove City for a 1pm contest.
