The Lady Bearcats came back from a mid-second half deficit to defeat the Westminster Titans on the road by a score of 66-60. Maria Baroffio led four SVC scorers in double figures with 16 points, as the Lady Bearcats outscored the Titans 18-10 over the game's final eight minutes to turn a two-point deficit into the six-point victory. The game was tight early on, with the teams sharing a pair of leads over the first three minutes. The Lady Bearcats then took control with a 12-2 run that spanned five minutes, with Brittany Sedlock and Devin McGrath scoring four apiece, go jump ahead 21-12 at the mid point of the first half. Westminster mounted a brief comeback attempt, scoring nine of the next 15 points to pull to within 27-21, but the Lady Bearcats entered halftime on a 10-5 run to take a 36-26 lead. The Titans scored six of the first eight points of the second half, cutting the score to 38-32 SVC, but the Lady Bearcats regained the double-digit advantage on an Ashley Bellovich three-pointer with 13:10 left that cut the visitors in front 45-35. Westminster then mounted another rally, scoring 13 unanswered points over a four-minute span to go ahead 48-45 with nine minutes remaining in regulation. Baroffio then took over for SVC, scoring eight points in a 90-second span to spur a 12-2 Lady Bearcat run that allowed the team to regain the lead, 57-50, with six minutes remaining. Again, Westminster battled back as time wound down, using an 8-2 run to close the gap to one, 59-58. A pair of free throws from Emily Fenton put the Lady Bearcats up 61-58, before Melissa Mansur stripped the ball from a Titan player and fed Baroffio all alone under the hoop for a lay up to give the Lady Bearcats the 63-58 led with 30 seconds left, essentially icing the game. McGrath hit three free throws over the final 15 seconds, and the Lady Bearcats picked up their fifth win in a row over Wesminster. Fenton added 12 points, Mansur and McGrath 11 and Sedlock nine for the Lady Bearcats, who forced 33 Westminster turnovers and collected 19 steals on the evening. Mansur led the way defensively, posting a career-high seven steals, while Baroffio, Fenton, and Bellovich had two thefts apiece. The Lady Bearcats improve to 14-4 overall, and will be back in action on Saturday evening, returning home after a three-game road swing to host Presidents' Athletic Conference foe Chatham University at 7pm in the Robert S. Carey Center. PHOTO: Ashley Bellovich goes in for a lay up in the first half of SVC's win at Westminster
