The Washington & Jefferson Lady Presidents defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 71-53, thanks in part to 11 blocked shots. SVC started strong, opening an 8-1 lead in the first four minutes, with Caryn Glassbrenner scoring twice. W&J then went on a 6-point run before SVC recovered and again opened the lead to six, 13-7. The Lady Presidents tied the game, 18-18 with 11:11 to go, then turned up the wick in the latter part of the half, pulling ahead by nine, 39-30, before Kathy Bianco banked home a 3-pointer to cut the gap to six at the half. The hosts started the second half on a 6-point run to double their lead and never looked back. SVC had trouble getting shots off from both inside and outside the arc, as W&J's Sarah Hunt had seven of the team's 11 blocks, a career high. Maria Baroffio led SVC with 15 points, while Janelle Reed added 12. Ashley Benzio grabbed 7 rebounds for the Lady Bearcats. Maggie Gibson led all scorers with 17 for the Lady Presidents. SVC is now 8-15 on the year, while W&J improves to 17-6. The Lady Bearcats will host Grove City College on Wednesday night at 6PM in the Carey Center. It will be the final home game of the season.
