SVC Women's Basketball
Kristen Zawacki, Head Coach

Kristen Zawacki, a former high school All-American, is a 1980 graduate of Penn State University, where she earned the Varsity "S" award for her contributions to the school's athletic program.

The first - and only - head coach of the Lady Bearcat basketball team, since its creation in 1983-84, Zawacki has led the team to numerous achievements. The Lady Bearcats qualified for post-season play a record-setting 22 consecutive years. In addition, the team set the record for consecutive conference championship title game appearances at 16.

Coach Zawacki also serves as Associate Athletic Director at Saint Vincent.

Mark Hozak, Assistant Coach

Mark Hozak, Assistant Coach of the Lady Bearcats, is a graduate of Uniontown High School, where he lettered in both baseball and basketball. At Waynesburg College, where he earned the degree of Bachelor of Science in Business Finance in 1980, Mark was a four-year starter in both sports.

An assistant to Coach Zawacki since 1996, Hozak is Plant Superintendent for the Connellsville Closure Facility of Crown, Cork and Seal, Inc.

Jimmy Petruska, Assistant Coach

In July of 2007, Jimmy Petruska became the first full-time assistant women's basketball coach in the history of the Lady Bearcat program.

A 2004 graduate of Saint Vincent College, Petruska served as a graduate assistant for the Lady Bearcats during the 2006-07 season.  Prior to his return to Saint Vincent, he served as an assistant coach in the high school ranks since 2002.

He began as an assistant at Mars High School, north of Pittsburgh, under his mother, head coach Dana Petruska.  His main responsibilities included scouting and breaking down film.

He left Mars in 2005, and coached for one season at neighboring Pine Richland High School, mainly scouting opponents.

In addition, he has coached at the AAU level for four seasons.  Last season, he coached a Foireann squad consisting of players from a number of neighboring and rival high schools.

A native of Mars, PA, Jimmy is single and resides in Latrobe.
