The Lady Bearcats finished fourth among 14 teams in the season-opening Westminster College Invitational. SVC finished with 108 points as a team, finishing behind only Grove City, Gannon and Franciscan. Freshman
Ivette Mejia led the way for SVC in the 6K (3.7 mile) race, timed in
24:27. She was the Lady Bearcats' lone medallist, finishing 5th
overall. SVC's next three runners were also newcomers. Freshman Marie
McIntyre was 19th overall, while classmate Crystal Sherlock was 22nd.
Junior Katie Macioce, a former soccer player competing in her first
cross country event, was fourth best among the Lady Bearcats and 24th
overall. Jillian Krupey (40th), Lauren Ziegenfus (54th) and Emma Goetz
(56th) completed the top 7 for Saint Vincent. In all, 139 runners
competed.

The Lady Bearcats finished 4th among 15 teams in the Californian
University of Pennsylvania Invitational. The team defeated several
Division I and Division II teams in the event. Ivette Mejia
finished 11th overall in a time of 20:02 for the 5K distance to lead
Saint Vincent. Katie Macoice took 21st overall (20:48) while Marie
McIntyre was 23rd (21:00). Completing the top 7 for the Lady Bearcats
were Crystal Sherlock (29th, 21:18), Emma Goetz (41st, 21:52), Claudia
Arrunategui (45th, 22:07) and Tara Karns (45th, 22:40). Slippery
Rock University won the team event with 38 points, followed by Grove
City (64), Franciscan (104), Saint Vincent (125), Saint Francis (135),
Mercyhurst (140), Clarion (141), California U of PA (189), Point Park
(264), Pitt-Greensburg (328), Hiram (342) and Pitt-Johnstown (345).
Grove City's Kristen Carter won the overall event in 18:22. A total of
153 runners competed.

Five Lady Bearcat runners finished in the top 30, as Saint Vincent
captured third place at the Broughton Invitational hosted by Marietta
College. Freshman Ivette Mejia continued her torrid start to
the season, finishing in third place overall with a time of 19:54,
becoming just the ninth runner in team history to break the 20-minute
barrier. SVC's Katie Macioice took eighth place overall, with a
time of 20:38, while Marie McIntyre took 17th (21:02), Crystal Sherlock
28th (21:46), and Emma Goetz 29th (21:48). Claudia Arrunategui
was SVC's sixth finisher of the day, placing 34th with a time of 22:09,
while Lauren Ziegenfus' time of 23:41 was good for 47th place. Otterbein
College won the team title, with a score of 33. Alderson-Broaddus
finished just one point ahead of SVC, with a score of 79, while
Marietta took fourth (82), Notre Dame College fifth (137), Captial
sixth (178), Heidelberg seventh (207), Fairmont St. eighth (209),
Bethany ninth (215), and Muskingum tenth (268), while West Liberty

Coach Tom Harbert's Lady Bearcat squad finished 10th among 24 teams
in the small college division of the National Catholic Invitational,
held in South Bend, IN at the University of Notre Dame. SVC
finished 22nd of 36 total teams, including NCAA Division I schools.
Notre Dame won the overall event, while Loras was the team winner in
the small college division. Ivette Mejia was SVC's top runner,
timed in 20:12. Katie Macoice was second for the Lady Bearcats, with a
20:38 for the 5K event. The rest of SVC's top seven included Marie
McIntyre (20:41), Crystal Sherlock (21:02), Claudia Arrunategui
(21:05), Emma Goetz (21:07) and Lauren Ziegenfus (22:43).

The Lady Bearcats placed two runners in the top 20, and finished fourth as a team in the Juniata College Invitational. Katie
Macioce finished seventh overall, in a time of 20:25, while Ivetee
Mejia also earned a medal, finishing 16th. The rest of the top seven
for Saint Vincent included Emma Goetz, Marie McIntyre, Crystal
Sherlock, Claudia Arrunetgui and Amy Babb. Susquehanna
University, led by overall first place finisher Lisa Woodruff (19:16),
won the team title with a score of 30, followed by Elizabethtown (37),
Juniata (90), Saint Vincent (99), Moravian (101), Saint Francis (174),
Drew (186), Penn State-Altoona (223), Pitt-Greensburg (258) and
Pitt-Bradford (Incomplete).
