Led by a fifth-place performance by sophomore Ivette Mejia, the Lady Bearcats took 10th place, out of 41 teams, at the 2009 ECAC Championships in Williamstown, MA. All seven Lady Bearcat runners finished in the top half of the 313-runner field, led by Mejia's fifth-place time of 23:30 in the 6-kilometer race. Katie Macioce was SVC's second finisher on the afternoon, taking 32nd overall with a time of 25:20. Kelsey Sullivan finished 46th, with a time of 25:37, followed by Emma Goetz (80th/26:22), Crystal Sherlock (106th/26:59), Brenda Hartman (121st/27:43), and Becca Leonard (144/28:30). As a team, the Lady Bearcats finished with a cumulative score of 269 points, good for 10th in a 45-team field. Middlebury earned the team championship, with a score of 37, followed by Williams (50), Amherst (105), Vassar (133), Coast Guard Academy (177), Springfield (202), Colby (226), Tufts (236), and Bates (238). The individual title went to Johanna Spangler of Vassar, who finished with a time of 22:55. It was the highest finish ever for the Lady Bearcats at the ECAC's, besting last season's 12th-place performance, while Mejia's fifth-place finish was also the highest individual finish by a Lady Bearcat runner at the event.
