The Lady Bearcats defeated the College of Notre Dame 1-0 in overtime on the Saint Vincent turf.

SVC's Maryellen Baverso scored the game winner 10 minutes into the overtime period, converting on a one-timer from teammate Rachel Hill.

Saint Vincent had a number of scoring opportunities from the outset, with six shots and four penalty corners in the game's fist six minutes.  The Gator defense stood strong, withstanding a number of SVC offensive barrages to send the game into halftime still scoreless, as the Lady Bearcats owned a 13-1 advantage in shots over the first half.

The Lady Bearcats continued to have the better of the play throughout the second half, but again, they were unable to solve the Gator defense and goalie Jessica Maier, who made seven second-half saves, including a number of point-blank stops from the doorstep, to send the scoreless game into overtime.

In the extra session, SVC came out strong, controlling possession for the majority of the period.  The Lady Bearcats' first three shot attempts of overtime were either wide or blocked, until Baverso netted the game winner following a penalty corner in the game's 81st minute.

For the game, SVC out-shot the Gators 25-5, and the Lady Bearcats took 18 penalty corners to Notre Dame's two.  Maier was strong in the hard-luck loss, finishing with 13 saves, while Lady Bearcat keeper Bridget Harner earned the shutout win by making two stops.

With the win, the Lady Bearcats even their record at 4-4.  The team returns to action on Tuesday afternoon, traveling to Wilson College for a 4pm game.
