Freshman midfielder Alex Shasko scored three times on the afternoon, while sophomore forward Kylie Simonini netted the eventual game winner in the final seven minutes.

The Lady Bearcats had a number of scoring chances early, and sophomore Shelley Teems looked to put SVC on the board at the 37:30 mark, but was stopped on a breakaway by Charleston goalie Whitney Sharp.

Saint Vincent keeper Jessica Urban was also put to the test early, making a number of key saves early on, including a point blank stop on a breakaway with 19 minutes left in the first.

Shasko put SVC ahead 1-0 at the 26 minute mark, with an assist credited to elder sister Ashley. The two teamed up once again with five minutes left in the first half, as Ashley assisted Alex on her second goal of the afternoon to give the Lady Bearcats a 2-0 advantage heading into the intermission.

The game went back and forth in the early stages of the second half, until Charleston's Sharon Lipinsky slipped past the Lady Bearcat defenders and put the visitors on the board with 27:20 remaining.

Momentum then shifted the way of Charleston, and Lipinsky scored her second goal of the afternoon with 15:00 left.

With 6:34 to go, Ashley Shasko sent a long ball into the box, and Simonini headed it into the back of the net for the game winner to put SVC up 3-2.

Two minutes later, Alex Shasko scored her third tally of the afternoon, blasting a shot from 30 yards past Sharp for the insurance goal.  Freshman Ashley Bartko had the assist.
