The Lady Bearcats lost to host Case Western Reserve in the championship game of the Case Tournament. The final score was 2-1. Case
took a 1-0 lead into the halftime break, thanks to a corner kick that
was headed home for a goal. In the second half, SVC was called for a
handball inside the 18-yard area, resulting in a penalty kick. Case
converted on the attempt to make it 2-0. Three minutes later, Emily
Ianachione scored her first collegiate goal to cut the lead in half,
but that was as close as the Lady Bearcats would get.

The Lady Bearcats battled the Seton Hill Griffins to a scoreless, double-overtime tie. In
a defensive struggle, the Lady Bearcats were outshot 20-8, but freshman
goalie Kirstie Mills made six saves to earn her first collegiate
shutout. After an evenly-played first half, the Griffins
increased the pressure on offense in the second frame, recording nine
shots, including a pair of point blank blasts, both smothered by Mills. In
the first overtime period, the Lady Bearcat offense attempted to rally,
keeping the ball deep in Griffin territory for much of the frame. SVC
was unable to find the back of the net, however, and the game went to a
second overtime. Seton Hill looked to rally in the third
overtime, advancing the ball deep into SVC territory, and gaining a
pair of corner kicks. However, the SVC defense once again withstood
the attack, and the game ended deadlocked.

The Lady Bearcats were defeated 2-0 by visiting Juniata College in SVC's 2008 home opener. Juniata scored once in each half, and held off SVC for the win. The
Golden Eagles started quickly, finding the scoreboard just over nine
minutes into play, when Laura Goodlander lofted a pass down the middle
of the field to Caitlin Bigelow, who dribbled 50 yards and sent the
shot into the lower right hand corner of the net to put Juniata up 1-0. Juniata
looked to add to its lead at the 24-minute mark. After a Golden Eagle
corner kick, SVC had trouble clearing the ball from in front of keeper
Kirstie Mills. Juniata's Amanda Broadwell was able to fire two blasts
from point blank range, but the first was blocked by an SVC defender
and the second was saved by Mills on a highlight-reel play. Mills made two more saves over the duration of the half, and the game went into intermission with a 1-0 score. The
Lady Bearcats looked to be in control following halftime, as SVC
recorded five of the half's first six shots, but three were deflected
and two were saved by keeper Kristen Penska, including a leaping header
attempt off of a corner kick by SVC's Leanna Seminsky with just over 30
minutes left to play. Juniata gained an insurance goal with 19
minutes to go when Aimee Radic fought through traffic to control a
bouncing ball over the head of Mills to put her team up 2-0. Mills
continued her strong play in the closing minutes, keeping the deficit
at two after making a trio of late saves. SVC was unable to find the
scoreboard, however, and the Lady Bearcats were handed the home loss. The Lady Bearcats were outshot 22-10 for the game, with Mills recording eight saves in the losing effort.

The Lady Bearcats scored four unanswered goals in the second half to
cruise to a 4-1 win over the visiting Bobcats of Pitt-Greensburg. After
spotting UPG a 1-0 lead in the first half, SVC came out of the
intermission with a flurry, as four different players scored over the
final 40 minutes of the game. Pitt-Greensburg got on the board 17
minutes into the first half, when Brittney Hamill's direct kick was
headed past Lady Bearcat keeper Kirstie Mills and into the goal. The
Lady Bearcats then went on the assault, but were unable to find the
net, despite out-shooting UPG 16-5 for the first half, and putting six
shots on goal compared to UPG's four. Saint Vincent continued with its offensive pressure following the intermission, and it paid off early on in the second half. Michelle
Stepien controlled a Lady Bearcat corner, quickly deflecting it to
teammate Abby Chabitnoy, who scored her first goal of the season and
tied the game for SVC. Despite controlling the ball for the
majority of play, the Lady Bearcats were unable to take a lead until
the 75th minute. After a UPG foul, SVC's Ashley Bartko lined up for
the direct kick. She lofted it high toward the net, and over the head
of the Bobcat goalie, for her first goal of the season and the eventual
game-winner. Just five minutes later, SVC scored an insurance
goal, when Kylie Simonini controlled a perfect pass from Stepien, and
streaked in alone for the breakaway goal. The Lady Bearcats
closed the scoring out in the final three minutes of play, when Leanna
Seminsky knocked in a short rebound for her second goal of the season
and SVC's fourth of the contest. The Lady Bearcats owned play
statistically, out-shooting UPG 29-8, including 13-2 in the second
half. SVC also recorded 13 shots on goal, as compared to UPG's three,
and the Lady Bearcats took nine corners while UPG had just one. Mills
earned the win in goal, making a pair of saves, while Stepien recorded
the first multi-assist game of her career. UPG keeper Michelle Love
stopped nine shots in the losing effort.

In a strong defensive effort, the Lady Bearcats defeated the
University of Pittsburgh at Bradford 2-1 on a rainy afternoon at
Bearcat Field. The Lady Bearcats limited the Panthers to just six
shots, and two shots on goal, while SVC senior Kylie Simonini scored
both of her team's goals in the win. Saint Vincent looked to
start strong, tallying five shots on goal in the first six minutes of
play, but Panther goalie Autumn Zigarski was up to the task, keeping
the game scoreless. The Lady Bearcats continued the pressure,
with Alex Shasko and Leanna Seminsky getting open shots from right in
front, but Zigarski again came up with saves. SVC was finally able to
take the 1-0 lead in the 23rd minute, when Shasko found Simonini at the
top of the box, and the senior blasted it into the net for her third
goal of the year. The Panthers then made their first scoring
chance of the game count, when Lindsay Sherman cashed in on an open
breakaway in the 30th minute, tying the game at one. SVC had two
chances to take the lead late in the half, but Zigarski again robbed
Simonini before Seminsky hit the post in the final seconds, sending the
game into halftime tied. The hosts looked to gain the momentum
coming out of the intermission, with five shots and three corner kicks
in the first 10 minutes, but Zigarsky and the UPB defense denied SVC of
the lead. With 25 minutes left to play, the Lady Bearcats were
granted a corner kick. Gamelier sent the ball high into the box,
finding Simonini. Her first shot was blocked, but she was able to bury
the rebound for her second goal of the day, giving SVC the one-goal
lead. SVC was unable to gain an insurance marker the rest of the
way, but the Lady Bearcat defense clamped down, allowing just one shot
over the final 20 minutes of play, sealing the 2-1 victory. "I
thought we played well throughout," said Lady Bearcat head coach Becky
Stewart. "Our defense was really good the entire game. We
probably could have had a few more goals, but we were unlucky, hitting
five posts. It's a win though, and it's always good to pull out close
ones like that." The Lady Bearcats finished with a 27-6 advantage
in shots for the game, and didn't allow a single Pitt-Bradford corner.
Kirstie Mills earned the win in goal for SVC, making one save, while
Zigarsky finished with 13 stops in the losing effort.

The Lady Bearcats battled to a hard-fought 1-1 tie with visiting Baldwin-Wallace College at Chuck Noll Field. SVC's
Kylie Simonini gave the hosts a quick 1-0 lead just six minutes into
play, after taking a lead pass from Michelle Stepien right on the
doorstep. Simonini lofted it into the top corner of the net, and SVC
had the early advantage. The lead didn't last long, however, as
Baldwin-Wallace's Natalie Fox tied it up at the 14-minute mark off a
rebound from five feet out. Both teams had a number of scoring
opportunties over the first frame, but couldn't find the net. SVC
goalie Kirstie Mills and B-W keeper Becky Miner each made five saves
over the first half, sending the game into overtime deadlocked at one. B-W finished the first half with 12 shots, while the Lady Bearcats countered with nine. Saint
Vincent came out of the intermission with the momentum. Just 30
seconds into the half, Simonini broke through the defense, but was
denied by Miner. Three minutes later, Leanna Seminsky was also stopped
at close range, and Michelle Stepien then came within inches of taking
the lead in the 50th minute, when her header bounced off the post. The
Lady Bearcats hit three more posts over the second half, while Miner
made five stops in the second 45 minutes. Overall, SVC finished the
second half with an 11-5 advantage in shots, and owned a 3-0 advantage
in corner kicks. The Yellow Jackets controlled play throughout
the first extra session, but the SVC defense stood strong, blocking a
pair of B-W shots before Mills preserved the tie by saving a header
from the Yellow Jackets' Noelle Fox with 20 seconds left. B-W
came out strong again in the second overtime, but Mills and the SVC
defense continued their strong play, as a trio of Yellow Jacket shots
were blocked by defenders and four more were saved by Mills. It was a good day for goalkeepers, as Mills ended with 12 saves, and Miner 10.

were unable to score an insurance marker before the intermission. Thirteen
minutes after the break, Simonini scored her seventh of the year, off
of an assist from Logan Gamelier. Just six minutes later, Shasko found
the net for her first goal of the season, assisted by Seminsky. Seminsky
finished off the day's scoring with just two minutes left in regulation
with her second goal, and fifth point, of the day. In addition to

kicks as opposed to one from the Yellow Jackets.

The score didn't stayed tied for very long, with Adams scoring her second of the day four minutes later, putting the Titans up 2-1 with just under 30 minutes left in the first half.

Washington & Jefferson scored with just 50 seconds remaining in the second half to post a 1-0 victory over the Lady Bearcats. The Presidents seemed to seize the momentum from the outset, posting six of the game's first seven shots and taking two corner kicks over the first 30 minutes of play.
As was the case throughout the game, however, the Lady Bearcat defense held strong, as goalie Kirstie Mills made a trio of saves over the first 45 minutes to send the game into halftime tied at zero. SVC started strong in the second half, as Alex Shasko and Kylie Simonini both narrowly missed scoring over the first three minutes of play. The teams traded shots through the middle portion of the second stanza, but as time wound down, it again looked as if the Lady Bearcats would be the team to break the deadlock. SVC had a number of long possessions deep into W&J territory, but a pair of shots were blocked and two more saved by Presidents' goalie Jackie Foltz. Entering the final minute of play, W&J went on the attack, sending an odd-man rush into the Lady Bearcat zone, with the Presidents' Madison Manius scoring the game winner at the 89:50 mark. Despite the tough loss, the SVC defense played well, as Mills recorded six saves in goal while her defenders blocked four other blasts.

The Lady Bearcats and Bethany College Bison battled to a 2-2 tie after 110 minutes of play on Senior Day at Bearcat Field. SVC scored the day's first goal in the 15th minute, when senior Kylie Simonini took the ball deep into Bethany territory and sent a shot inside the near post from 10 feet out. The Lady Bearcats continued the offensive pressure, posting six shots over the next 10 minutes, but weren't able to find the net. A breakaway goal scored by Bethany's Cassie Spalding tied the game at 1-1 with 12 minutes left before halftime, and the half ended with the game deadlocked. The Lady Bearcats came roaring out of the intermission, with Simonini cashing in on a breakaway of her own just two minutes into play for her second goal of the day and 10th of the season. As was the case in the first half, the Bison answered back, with Lisa Wabrick scoring off of a pass from Spalding with 23 minutes remaining in the half. The Lady Bearcats had a number of scoring chances, but were continually thwarted by Bethany keeper Julie Brady, who made six saves in the second half to preserve the tie and send the game into overtime. The first extra session featured plenty of scoring chances, with the Lady Bearcats controlling the ball for the majority. Brady, though, continued her strong play, saving a trio of shots, and the game headed into a second overtime. SVC again looked to end the game early in the second session, posting three quick shots, but one was blocked and two were saved by Brady. Mills then came up big for SVC, making a pair of point-blank saves over the final 1:10, and the game ended deadlocked at two. The Lady Bearcats owned a 29-20 advantage in shots, with Brady making 11 saves, including 10 over the second half and overtimes. Mills finished the day with eight stops. With her two goals on the day, Simonini now has 42 for her career, and is just one away from tying 2004 grad Julie Gongaware for the team record. Prior to the game, the team's three seniors, including Simonini, Katie Messinger, and Abby Chabitnoy, were honored in a short ceremony for their contributions to the Lady Bearcat program over the past four years.

Saint Vincent senior Kylie Simonini scored two goals, becoming the school's all-time leading scorer, in SVC's 3-0 win over Chatham at a chilly Bearcat Field.
The Lady Bearcats posted a season-high 38 shots while allowing just four, including a 21-1 advantage over the second half. SVC also owned a 6-1 advantage in corner kicks.
SVC owned play throughout the majority of the first half, controlling the ball for almost the entirety. The Lady Bearcats, however, were unable to solve the Chatham defense until the game's 39th minute.
With the ball deep in Chatham territory, SVC's Logan Gamelier sent a cross into the box toward three teammates waiting right on the doorstep. The bouncing ball was redirected off the head of SVC's Michelle Stepien and onto the foot of teammate Katie Messinger, who flipped it in the goal for her first of the season.
The game remained 1-0 through halftime, before the Lady Bearcats came charging out of the intermission. Once again owning possession, SVC racked up eight shots in the first five minutes of the second half, with Chatham keeper Mary McMahon making five point-blank saves.
SVC kept the pressure up, and with 36:57 left in play, Simonini scored her first of the day, assisted by Emily Ianachione. It was the 43rd goal of Simonini's career, tying the mark set in 2003 by Julie Gongaware.
Simonini had a pair of chances shortly after to break the record, but was twice stopped on breakaways. The third time, however, was the charm. With just under 28 minutes left, the Washington, PA native dribbled the ball to the corner of the box. From 10 yards out, she lofted in a shot over the head of McMahon and into the net for her 12th of the year and 44th of her career.
The Lady Bearcats continued to own possession after their third goal, but were unable to find the net. Chatham couldn't mount any offense, and with the 3-0 win, SVC snapped its six-game winless streak.
