The Lady Bearcats wrapped up the home portion of their 2009 schedule by battling Thomas More to a 0-0 double-overtime tie on the Saint Vincent turf. The teams combined for 34 shots during the 110-minute defensive struggle, but neither the Saints or Lady Bearcats were able to score a decisive goal. Thomas More's offense put constant pressure on the Lady Bearcats throughout, but goalie Kirstie Mills was strong, turning aside all 11 TMC shots on goal for her sixth double-digit save performance and fourth shutout of the season. The Lady Bearcats' defensive unit, led by Ashley Bartko, Logan Gamelier, Haley Krol, and Emily Taylor, was strong throughout the contest in front of Mills. While SVC was out-shot 26-8 and held without a corner kick over the 110-minute affair, the Lady Bearcats did have a number of scoring chances, as five of their attempted shots were on goal - two apiece from Bartko and Alex Shasko and one from Sam Shumaker. Jenna Kramer was credited with the shutout in goal for the visitors. The tie, their first of the season, moves SVC's record to 4-13-1, while the Lady Bearcat record against Presidents' Athletic Conference foes is now 3-3-1. Thomas More, ranked fourth in NCAA Division-III's Great Lakes Region, saw its record move to 14-2-1. The Lady Bearcats will now wrap up the 2009 season on Saturday afternoon, traveling to Chatham University in Pittsburgh for a 1pm match.
