2006-07 Meet Recaps

10/28 - WV Wesleyan

The Lady Bearcats were defeated by West Virginia Wesleyan in the first meet ever held at the Frank and Elizabeth Resnik Swimming Pool on the Latrobe campus.  The final score was 83-58.

SVC took top honors in two events.  The 400 Medley Relay was won by the team of Karli Buday, Anna Conlin, Olivia Cinberg and Maggie Sandherr.  Buday finished first in the 200-yard backstroke.

11/4 - PSU-Altoona

The Lady Bearcats lost a close contest to Penn State-Altoona by a score of 117-108.

Three SVC swimmers earned multiple victories on the day.  Olivia Cinberg won the 100 and 200 butterfly, Katie Bittner won the 200 and 500 free, and Erin Perry took first in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke.

11/11 - PSU-Behrend

Penn State-Behrend defeated Saint Vincent by a score of 94-70 in a meet held at the Resnik Pool.

The team of Erin Perry, Kristy Hartbauer, Olivia Cinberg and Katie Bittner won the 400 Medley Relay, while second places finishes went to Karli Sue Buday (1650 Free), Cinberg (50 Free & 200 Fly), Hartbauer (200 IM & 200 Breast) and Bittner (500 Free).  The team of Buday, Molly Michael, Gina Gamberoni and Anna Conlin finished second in the 400 Free Relay.

11/17 - Grove City/Frostburg

The Lady Bearcats split a tri-meet at Grove City, defeating Frostburg State 61-51, and losing to Grove City by a score of 80-40.

Kristy Hartbauer finished first in the 100 Breast and 200 IM.  Second place finishes were recorded by Olivia Cinberg (100 & 200 Fly), Hartbauer (200 Breast) and Erin Perry (200 IM).

SVC also finished second in the 200 Medley Relay (Cinberg, Anna Conlin, Hartbauer and Gina Gamberoni) and the 400 Free Relay (Cinberg, Katie Bittner, Molly Michael and Perry).

11/18 - Mount Union

The Lady Bearcats were defeated by Mount Union College on the road, by a score of 143-106.

The team of Erin Perry, Kristy Hartbauer, Olivia Cinberg and Katie Bittner took first place in the 200 Medley Relay.   Other victories were recorded by Bittner (1000 Free), Karli Buday (100 Back), Hartbauer (100 & 200 Breast, 400 IM) and Cinberg (200 Fly).

Cinberg finished second in the 100 Free and 100 Fly, while Perry was second in the 200 Breast.

11/30 - Wooster Invitational

The Lady Bearcats finished in tenth place at the three-day College of Wooster Invitational.

Olivia Cinberg set a school-record by turning in a time of 1:02.31 in the butterfly, taking sixth place.

Cinberg was also part of the school-record breaking 200m freestyle relay, along with Erin Perry, Kristy Hartbauer, and Catherine Bittner, which finished in 14th with a time of 1:49.77.

Perry finished in 19th in the 100m breast stroke with a 1:16.32, while Anna Conlin finished in 24th place in the same event with a time of 1:25.63.

Bittner finished in 24th place with a 5:45.90 in the 500m freestyle.

Kristy Hartbauer finished the 400m intermediate medley in 5:16.94, good for 18th place.

The 200m freestyle relay squad (Cinberg, Hartbauer, Perry, and Catherine Bittner) set a school record with a time of 1:49.77, good for a 14th place finish.

The 400 medley relay (Perry, Hartbauer, Cinberg, Bittner) team also entered the SVC record books with a time of 4:23.77, finishing in 12th place.  In that event, Perry led off with a school-record time of 1:07.89 in the 100m back stroke. 

1/13 - Bethany

The Lady Bearcats defeated the Bethany Bison by a score of 100-95 at the Resnik Pool.

Kristy Hartbauer earned three first-place finishes on the afternoon, winning the 200 Breaststroke and the 100 Freestyle, along with being part of the winning 200 Medley Relay team with Karli Buday, Anna Conlin and Katie Bittner.

Erin Perry also had a pair of victories, winning the 100 Breaststroke and 200 Backstroke.   Olivia Cinberg also scored a victory, winning the 100 Freestyle.

1/20 - Westminster

The Westminster Titans overpowered the Lady Bearcats, sending the visiting SVC team to a 144-87 defeat.

Olivia Cinberg won the 100 Butterfly for the SVC, while Kristy Hartbauer finished second in the 200 Breaststroke.

1/24 - W&J

Washington & Jefferson College defeated the Lady Bearcats by a score of 81-65 on Senior Night at the Resnik Pool.

Kristy Hartbauer finished first in the 100 Breaststroke and was second in the 200 IM, while Erin Perry finished second in the 100 Freestyle.

1/26 - Fairmont State

Fairmont State defeated the visiting Lady Bearcats by a score of 113-97.

Katie Bittner set a school record in the 1000 Freestyle, timed in 12:06.79, and also finished first in the 500 Free (5:50.92).

Erin Perry won the 200 IM in 2:25.52, then finished second in the 100 and 200 Backstroke.  Her time of 2:28.57 in the 200 was a school record.

Kristy Hartbauer won the 100 Breaststroke in 1:14.30, then finished second in the 200 Breast and 200 IM.

Other second place finishes were recorded by Molly Michael (200 Free), the 400 Medley Relay team of Perry, Hartbauer, Cinberg and Bittner, and the 400 Free Relay team of Bitter, Gina Gamberoni, Anna Conlin and Michael.

2/8 - Grove City Invitational

The Saint Vincent Lady Bearcats capped off the season in record-breaking fashion at the Grove City Invitational February 8-10. 

Led by junior Olivia Cinberg and senior Kristy Hartbauer the team was able to set 11 new records over the three-day meet.

During the first day of competition the women were off to a quick start by setting a new school record in the first event, the 200 Free Relay, with a time of 1:48.16.  The team of Cinberg, Molly Michael, Katie Bittner, and Erin Perry went on to take 7th place.  Three more school records would fall on the day as the Bearcats also set marks in the 200 IM, (Perry 2:22.39, placing 11th), 50 Free (Cinberg 26.35, placing 13th), and the 400 Medley relay of Perry, Hartbauer, Cinberg, and Bittner recording a time of 4:16.07, placing 4th. 

Also scoring on day one for the Lady Bearcats were Bittner (500 Free, 13th) and Hartbauer (200 IM, 13th).

Day two saw school records fall in the 1000 Free (Bittner, 11:50.64, placing 12th), 100 Fly (Cinberg, 1:01.90, placing 4th), and 100 Back (Perry, 1:06.55, 12th place).  Also scoring individually for Saint Vincent was Hartbauer in the 100 Breast, placing 6th with a time of 1:12.84.  The 200 Medley Relay of Perry, Hartbauer, Cinberg, and Michael placed 6th while the 800 Free Relay of Bittner, Michael, Karli Buday, and Hartbauer went on to take 7th.

The records continued to fall during the final day of competition.  Bittner swam to a school record in the 1650 free with a time of 19:51.45 to place 11th,l while Buday finished 16th.  Perry also set another school record in the 200 Back (2:23.98) to place 13th and Cinberg broke her own record in the 200 Fly with a 2:22.00, to place 7th. 

The relay team of Cinberg, Bittner, Hartbauer, and Perry teamed up to end the meet the way it started, by setting another school record in the final event of the weekend, the400 Free Relay, with a time of 3:54.39 to place 5th. The Lady Bearcats moved up two places from last year’s finish at the Grove City Invitational to place 6th overall with 223 points.
