The Lady Bearcats went 1-1 in their season-opening meet with Penn State-Altoona and Chatham University at the SVC Resnik Pool.
Saint Vincent defeated PSU-Altoona by an 82-43 score, while the Lady Bearcats were downed 92-38 by Chatham, which captured 11 first-place finishes on the day.
The Lady Bearcats were led by Maggie Dempsey, who took first place in two events, including the 100yd freestyle (58.46 seconds) and the 50yd freestyle (26.50 seconds).
SVC's Jess Kennedy gave the Lady Bearcats a third individual win, touching first in the 200yd butterfly with a time of 2:34.54.
Mandie West finished in second place in three events for the Lady Bearcats, including the 1000yd freestyle (11:36.37), the 100yd backstroke (1:08.62), and the 200m back (2:27.22).
Amanda Haile and Christine Dunleavy turned in two second place finishes apiece, with Haile's in the 200yd freestyle (2:08.07) and the 500yd freestyle (5:52.20), and Dunleavy in the 100m breaststroke (1:13.10) and 200yd breaststroke (2:44.72).

The Lady Bearcats defeated Wheeling Jesuit University on the road by a score of 131-96. SVC
started the day with a victory in the 200 Medley Relay, as the team of
Mandie West, Christine Dunleavy, Jess Kennedy and Amanda Haile picked
up an easy win in 2:00.08, over 25 seconds ahead of the Cardinals. West
was equally strong in her first individual event of the day, the 1000
Freestyle, as she posted a time of 11:35.07, good for a 14-second
victory. Haile earned her first individual win of the day in the
200 Freestyle, in the closest finish of the afternoon. She held off
Jessica Steve of Wheeling by 1/100th of a second, winning in 2:08.37 to
Steve's 2:08.38. Maggie Dempsey of SVC was third (2:12.92). Dempsey
later picked up two wins, first in the 50 Free, timed in 26.97, then a
59.76 victory in the 100 Free. In the 100 Backstroke, Sarah Denning was a second place finisher, timed in 1:13.34. In
the 100 Breaststroke, Dunleavy took first place with a 1:12.91 effort,
almost nine seconds ahead of the second place finisher. She later won
the 200 Breaststroke in 2:44.45. Kennedy was a winner in the 200
Butterfly, timed in 2:34.27 to win by more than eight seconds. Later in
the day, she won the 100 Butterfly in 1:06.42.
the 5000 Free was won by West, who was timed in 5:39.79. Haile
finished third (5:56.93). West finished second in the 200 IM
(2:30.13), while teammate Haile was third in 2:35.39. The 400
Free Relay team of Kennedy, Molly Michael, Denning and Dempsey had to
settle for a second place finish, but not without making it exciting.
The team was down by more than five seconds going into the last leg,
and ended up losing by just 6/100 of a second, 4:00.69 to 4:00.75.

A trio of school records were shattered as the Lady Bearcats defeated Penn State-Behrend 139-103 at SVC's Resnik Pool. Freshman
Mandie West continued her strong start to the season, setting school
records in wins in both the 200yd Freestyle (2:04.51) and 500yd
Freestyle (5:31.96), while she also had a hand in SVC's win in the
200yd Freestyle Relay, teaming up with Haley Krol, Maggie Dempsey, and
Amanda Haile. The Lady Bearcats captured their first win of the
day in the first event of the meet, when Jess Kennedy, Christine
Dunleavy, Krol, and Molly Michael teamed up in the 200yd Medley Relay,
with Kennedy's time of 30.66 in the 50yd Backstroke leg also a new team
record. Dunleavy earned a pair of individual wins on the day, as
well, taking first place in both the 100yd and 200yd Breaststroke, with
times of 1:13.45 and 2:45.73, respectively. Haile took first
place in the 1,000yd Freestyle, with a time of 12:07.32, while Dempsey
earned the individual win in the 50yd Freestyle, touching first in a
time of 26.51 seconds.

The Lady Bearcats saw their winning streak halted at three, falling
150-99 to Mount Union College at the Frank and Elizabeth Resnik Pool. Despite the loss, SVC got a number of strong performances on the day. Freshman
Mandie West continued her torrid start to the season by picking up a
pair of individual wins, as she touched first in the 1650 Freestyle
with a time of 19:07.49 - exactly one minute ahead of her closest
competitor - before capturing the indivudual win in the 500 Free with a
time of 5:31.38. West was also a part of SVC's victorious 400
Free Relay squad, teaming up with Jess Kennedy, Amanda Haile, and
Maggie Dempsey to record a time of 3:51.89. Dempsey also enjoyed a big day, adding wins in the 50 Free (26.17 seconds) and 100 Free (58.35) to her relay victory. The
Lady Bearcats' Christine Dunleavy touched first in the 100
Breaststroke, finishing with a time of 1:13.21, while she took second
in the 200 Breast (2:47.40). Haile added second place finishes in
the 200 Free and 500 Free to her relay win, while Kennedy took second
in both the 100 and 200 Butterfly.

The Lady Bearcats lost on the road to a tough Grove City College Wolverine team by a score of 153-75. SVC
picked up a second place finish to start the day in the 200 Medley
Relay, as the team of Jess Kennedy, Maggie Dempsey, Haley Krol and
Mandie West completed the event in 2:03.95. Amanda Haile was a
second place finisher in the 1000 Free, timed in 11:52.07. Krol later
took second in the 50 free with a 26.12 time.

The Lady Bearcats finished in 11th place against a tough field at the three-day College of Wooster Invitational.
SVC finished with a team score of 221 points, while the host Scots captured the team title with a three-day score of 1,267.
Things started well for SVC, as a number of team records were shattered on the first day of competition.
In the opening preliminaries, freshman Jess Kennedy entered the school record books with a time of 25.13 in the 50 Free. She later went on to finish in eighth place in the finals, clocked in 25.44 seconds.
Kennedy was also part of the 200 Free Relay squad that entered the SVC record books, along with Maggie Dempsey, Amanda Haile, and Mandie West, as they took 2nd place with a school-record time of 1:44.34.
West was another two-time record breaker, as she finished with a time of 5:27.41 in the 500 Free, good for 18th place.
The fourth event of the day for the Lady Bearcats was the 400 Medley relay, and Kennedy, Haile, Christine Dunleavy, and Sarah Denning finished in 17th place with a time of 4:24.66.
In the second day of action, the SVC 200 Medley Relay team of Denning, Dunleavy, West, and Haile finished in 17th place, clocked in 1:59.84, while in the 400 Individual Medley, West led the way again for SVC, taking 13th in 5:03.94.
Kennedy continued her strong weekend by finishing 12th in both the 200 Butterfly (1:03.02) and 100 Free (55.63). Dunleavy led SVC in the 100 Breaststroke, taking 19th (1:14.58).
West, Dempsey, Kennedy, and Haile teamed up to take 15th place, finishing in 8:39.24 in the 800 Free Relay, while West paced the Lady Bearcats in the 1650 Free, finishing in 13th with a time of 19:02.

The Lady Bearcats returned to winning form with a 123-114 home victory over the Bethany College Bison.
SVC captured victories in the first 12 events of the day, improving their record to 4-3 on the season.
Five Lady Bearcats earned multiple wins on the afternoon. Mandie West took first in the 200 Free (2:08.93) and 500 Free (5:44.91), Jess Kennedy the 200 Back (2:30.19) and 200 Fly (2:39.12), Haley Krol the 50 Free (26.80) and 100 Free (1:00.11), Christine Dunleavy the 100 Breast (1:13.89) and 200 Breast (2:46.37) and Amanda Haile the 1000 Free (11:59.42) and 100 Fly (1:07.77).
Sarah Denning's time of 1:10.41 was good for first place in the 200 Back, while SVC's 400 Medley Relay squad earned the win with a time of 4:33.56.

The Lady Bearcats lost to West Virginia Wesleyan on the road by a score of 148-82. Jess Kennedy was a winner in the 200 Free, with a time of 2:06.09, more than 2 full seconds ahead of her nearest competitor. She also picked up a second place finish in the 50 free (26.33). Mandie West earned a second place finish for SVC in the 1000 free, timed in 11:48.34 while Sarah Denning set a personal best with a 1:08.99 time in the 100 backstroke, good for a third place finish.

The visiting Washington & Jefferson College Presidents defeated the Lady Bearcats 105-69 in SVC's 2009 home finale at the Resnik Pool.
Amanda Haile picked up SVC's first individual win of the night, taking first place in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:07.12. Teammate Jess Kennedy finished closely behind, taking second in 1:07.54.
Haile was also part of the Lady Bearcats' victorious 200 Free Relay squad, as she teamed up with Mandie West, Molly Michael, and Sarah Denning for a winning time of 1:49.94.
The Lady Bearcats' Christine Dunleavy captured first in the 100 Breast, with a time of 1:12.09, while her time of 27.17 seconds was good for third in the 50 Free.
West earned a pair of second place finishes (400 IM - 5:10.25 and 1000 Free - 11:42.64), as did Kennedy who followed up her performance in the 100 Fly with a time of 2:06.38 in the 200 Free. Haley Krol added a second place finish in the 100 Free, turning in a time of 58.45 seconds.

The Lady Bearcats lost to Westminster College on the road by a score of 126-99. Mandie
West earned a second place finish in the 1000 Free, timed in 11:43.09,
then came back later in the day to win the 500 Free in 5:38.75.
Christine Dunleavy took second in the 100 Breaststroke (1:12.25).

The Lady Bearcats earned a fifth place finish at the 2009 Presidents' Athletic Conference championships hosted by Grove City College.
Saint Vincent accumulated a team score of 220, taking fifth place overall in a field composed of six PAC schools as well as four schools from the Allegheny Mountain Conference.
Saint Vincent set a trio of school marks in Freestyle events on day one of the PAC's.
The Lady Bearcat foursome of Haley Krol, Maggie Dempsey, Amanda Haile, and Jess Kennedy took fourth place, with an SVC-record time of 1:42.77.
Kennedy led SVC with her fourth place finish in the 50 Free, setting a school mark of 25.06 seconds. Krol took 13th in the event (26.03) while Dempsey finished right behind her with a time of 26.20 seconds.
Mandie West's then broke her own mark in the 500 Free, finishing in 10th place with a time of 5:25.80.
In the 400 Medley Relay, Sarah Denning, Dempsey, Kennedy, and West teamed up to record a time of 4:25.00, good for sixth place.
On the second day of competition, Christine Dunleavy teamed up with West, Kennedy, and Haile to turn in a fifth place finish in the finals of the 200 Medley Relay, finishing with a time of 1:56.42.
West led the Lady Bearcats with a 12th-place finish in the 400 IM finals, while Kennedy's time of 1:03.33 was good for eighth in the 100 Fly finals.
The Lady Bearcats wrapped up day two with another strong relay performance, as the team of Denning, West, Molly Michael, and Haley Krol finished fifth in the 800 Free Relay with a time of 8:39.24.
West started the meet's final day with a fifth place finish (18:46.37) in the 1,650 Free, and Kennedy followed by taking seventh in the 100 Free with a time of 55.51.
In the final event of the weekend, the 400 Free Relay, the Lady Bearcat combo of Krol, Dempsey, West, and Kennedy teamed up for a sixth place finish, just two-tenths of a second out of fifth.
Grove City won the meet, with a total of 833.5 points. The Wolverines were followed by Westminster (759.5), Washington & Jefferson (735), and Chatham (367). Bethany rounded out the PAC schools with a score of 100.
